Let's Away

Let's Away
Let’s away just for the day,

To the prettiest of glades,

A place of blood-red tulips

And razor-sharp grass blades

Let’s disappear, my love, my dear,

Leave the dank and rot behind,

Flee the darkness of our lives

Let our souls become entwined

Let’s perambulate, our desires sate,

Seek joy amongst the trees,

Converge with every element,

As we fall down to our knees

My maiden fair with chestnut hair,

Never failing to surprise,

You’ve taken my last breath away,

As my fleshly body dies

We journeyed here, to mitigate the fear,

Of my knife sunk in your breast,

That you concealed one of your own,

I never would have guessed

A price I pay this very day,

As you pierce my lusty heart,

I pierce yours simultaneously,

Now we two shall never part

I'm not a big poetry guy, Jason. But I got caught up in the picture as my mind revisited times and places that should always be recalled. Nice work and thank you. Jerry

Hey Jason,

Love lives on a razors edge for some people. As in your poem it can cut to the quick or quickly cut you to ribbons. It amazes me that even your love stories are horrific in a very pretty way if that sentence even makes sense. I think your poetry rivals any of your prose; As I have mentioned before -they often show up together In your writing.

Of nasty business, your story poem tells. But sometimes love is like that. A nasty business with a tragic end. May all your loves be of much sweeter variety, Jason, and may such deadly passions remain fiction only.... Another masterfully crafted tale.
