My Semi-Lucky Incident
Born 2005, F, from Pennsylvania, United StatesToday I woke up for school on time and put on my backpack, brushed my teeth, and ate some breakfast. I grabbed my school computer, charger and got in the van to go to school.
I made it to school in enough time to talk to my chemistry teacher before cooking class. I went to my class, grabbed my notebook and did the morning assignment.
My teacher announced that we would be making baked mac and cheese, and the assistant principal would sit in on our class. We were assigned our new groups and jobs and began the lab.
We had a lot of issues with cooking the noodles. The roux wasn’t cooking properly and the cheese wouldn’t melt. We eventually cooked the noodles, added the sauce and put the breadcrumbs over the noodles and into the oven. The tinfoil that was on top of the pan shouldn’t have been there.
We had to check the pan every minute or so. That was my job. I reached into the oven after putting on oven mitts and checked the pasta. I closed the oven and began to smell something burning. I looked at my hand, which felt warm, and the oven mitt was on fire! Luckily, my classmate saw it and put the fire out.
That was my semi-lucky incident.
And had he not been there, My hand would have been toast!
