If These Walls Could Talk
Born 1952, M, from Pensacola, Florida, United StatesIt hit Sarah later that day, the loneliness she feels now and then. Things get quiet, the house gets dark. She talks to the walls, and things unseen or real.
But it is in here she feels herself beginning with something new emerging from this place of death. Some sense returns, a lightness at last. Some life touches her nerves again, bringing joy once again into her world. Weakness is no longer her fear, an awareness or anticipation for its presence, but hope as well.
Hope is all Sarah has when she reaches out her hands, knowing the horrible things that have been done by one another with so much suffering left unspoken within them. There seems to be nothing holding her together against all these horrible memories, which can only destroy those who loved her.
Sarah used to be a strong-spirited person. She would ride up and down the main drag, haunt bars, and keep company with other shadows. But sometimes she felt as if though she was spying on people.
Her own shadow didn’t care how much it looked at her or what happened next. It knew nothing about everyone else. That alone made it feel less valuable than every shade’s share, even though they all were different in character.
Every day became a battle against some kind of notion from another side who thought themselves better than others as yet unknown by those around them.
She really wished everyone would give her a reason to move forward. Sarah sometimes wonders how many people out there are struggling with their own insecurities, afraid to change their lives.
She didn’t choose depression or give up on life. She wanted to live. Even in the darkest of times, she wanted to keep moving forward.
Whether it’s worth the fight, no one really knows. But she knows you don’t get to be in this little jar of mush with the rocks if you don’t put some effort into keeping moving along.
It’s all about what you are willing to do. And she knew she was no exception. Even when you feel like you have nothing left, even when you think you can’t keep fighting, you can. You can decide to keep on fighting and keep moving, no matter what the consequences.
But Sarah felt so weak. She felt like her entire life has been the fight, nothing but the fight. She is so tired. The question on her mind was, how can she find the energy to keep pushing when she already had to fight through so much?
Sarah felt disappointed that her life had come to such a sad end. She said goodbye to her life, and that was that.
