The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy

I was walking Aaron to school one day, the Monday after Easter. Aaron's chest was puffed to the fullest, having lost his baby tooth that weekend. On Saturday night he was visited by the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. They hooked up and went out later, but that's a different story.

When we arrived at school, a very meager 24 feet away from the house, I was standing in line with Aaron, waiting for the teacher to call the class in for pm Kindergarten. There was an obnoxious little girl standing next to him. We have all gone to school with a girl like this. The "One-Uppers", unfortunately a boy of a very similar nature was standing on the other side of him as well. You know the "One-Uppers", you get a doll for your birthday, they get two, you get a bike for Christmas, they get a motorcycle, etc, etc.

Aaron, coming from a more..ahem...humble background, was as proud as he could be having something these kids hadn't experienced. He stated boldly: "I lost my tooth this weekend and got two quarters!" (I have no idea what teeth are running for these days, but thought two quarters for a six year old were plenty.)

The little girl smirks, "Well I got a dollar for mine!"

The little boy quickly recants, having lost no teeth and feeling already behind, "Well I've been to the Space Needle. Have you guys ever been there?"

My little boy is crestfallen, having not received a dollar nor been to the space needle. I speak up on his behalf, "Well Aaron has been on an airplane. Have you ever been on an airplane?"

Both shake their heads.

Haha, I triumph!

But how hard won is my victory against two other six year olds?
