Shooting Stars
This story mirrors the pure relationship between a grandmother and her granddaughter. In this story a grandmother teaches her granddaughter about the most essential lessons of life and encourages her to be successful in life.

It was the dawn time; the sky was pink showing beauty of sunset which makes everyone to fall in love with that scenic view of nature. Riley, a little girl, was playing on her terrace. She was enjoying her leisure time while waiting for sun to set and night to come. Soon, her grandmother called her down but Riley insisted her to come up on the terrace. Her grandmother was a little confused and was wondering why was Riley doing so. Her grandmother saw Riley gazing at the sky, looking at the colorful flying birds and the different shapes of clouds. Her grandmother already knew that she was imagining the birds as the cherries and the whole sky as a giant pink ice-cream!
“What’s going on my dear?” grandmother asked.
“Grandma! Look up! How beautiful it is, just think grandma! We all are busy in our day to day chores and we just forget to see this miracle of nature!” Riley replied.
“That’s totally correct” grandmother replied.
Suddenly Riley saw a shooting star in the sky!
She started muttering something.
“What’s that dear, what are you thinking?” The old lady asked Riley with curiosity.
“Oh! Grandma, I read a story about a boy who used to wish while looking at the shooting stars, and his wish was always fulfilled by the angels!”
She replied. “Okay! So what did you wish my dear”? She asked with wrinkles on her forehead.
Riley told her that she wished to achieve top scores in her finals and also added that now there was no need to study for hours, she was free to play, roam and watch cartoons. Her grandma got worried because she knew that these are just fairy tales which are totally opposite to the reality. She also thought that if Riley continued to believe in these shooting stars she would never be successful in her life.

After taking a deep breath, she started narrating a story to little Riley.
She said, ”Riley, Listen to me. Let me tell you a story of a girl who was as innocent and beautiful as you are and she too believed in shooting stars. One day she asked her teacher about the shooting stars and where they disappear. Her teacher explained her properly that these stars burn in fire or break in pieces after falling. The innocent girl was shocked to know about this harsh reality. She thought that if the shooting stars burn in fire and break into pieces then what about her dreams. They would also break and burn. From that day she decided to work hard and left relying in these shooting stars and she promised herself that she will do hard work and get good marks in her exams!” She told.
“Grandma, really?” Riley asked. ”Yes ! my dear” this is the truth.
After listening to the story, Riley promised her grandma to always work hard and achieve success in her life!

Moral: Dreaming about your destination is the first step towards success but just wishing for it and leaving and wasting your time is the biggest evil.
