I Feel Your Pain

I Feel Your Pain

The decision's been made, you must make the final call.
Mesmerized by the sights and sounds of the machines by the wall.
Doctors say the time is now.
You clench over heartbroken and whisper “But how?”

I Feel your pain

Affectionately you gaze at your wife of seventy years.
Your eyes tenderly overflow with deep grieving tears.
As her soft cool grip loosens from your weathered hand
your heart melts, but you understand.

I Feel your pain

You're left alone to mourn your loss.
In your mothers hand you place a golden cross.
You gently lean in and kiss her cold cheek.
“I love you mom.” You softly speak.

I Feel your pain

You suffer abuse from the man you call dad.
He punches and pushes, and screams at you bad.
You pray as you were taught, down on your knee.
And search for the answer to the question “why me?”

I Feel your pain

You proudly serve your country in every means and way
but your world came to an end one mail call day.
You receive a 'Dear John' letter from the woman to be your wife.
And it cut through your heart like a sharp jagged knife.

I Feel your pain

You've been diagnosed with the 'word' we all dread
Now the unknown and questions grow deep in your head.
How much time do I have? Will my family be, OK?
You sense your coming days will be dark and stormy gray.

I Feel your pain

You are hurried to the ER at thirty-two weeks.
Nurses surround you as your pain greatly peaks.
Doctors rush you into surgery to try to save your baby.
To no avail. You'll get pregnant again someday maybe.

I Feel your pain

Sitting near a small white cross at the side of a hill.
While remembering your loss you are overcome with a chill.
She was only sixteen your sweet little girl.
Now your world seems to be spinning in an upheaval whirl.

I Feel your pain

He's been your companion for many many years
Now as he lies on the table, he licks your salty tears.
As you wait for the Vet
you gently embrace your pet
Instantly you're filled with peace from above.
And you'll never forget his unconditional love.

I Feel your pain

You're grieving your son day after day.
You didn't know his pain was real till the pills took it away.
Now you blame yourself. Wish you would have listened more.
But it's too late. His death eats bitterly at your inner core.

I Feel your pain

Amazing! This brought me so much peace and calm as I was reading. It's great to know that God feels our pain too.

"I feel Your Pain".. the poem relates to me in so many ways and we could all learn to embrace each other and be there for one another because life is precious and we never really got so many chances to live.

First I want to say sorry for the pain you have endured. You are absolutely right, we need to be there for each other in the good times and especially the hard times.

Another fine piece, Shelly. Too many of those events are all to familiar to all too many of us.
Loved the simple, powerful, understanding ending. jg

Pain is inevitable, everyone in this world goes through it, someone loses his father, his mother, or anyone else, the pain is of the same amount that a person experiences. But the way we choose to get through it is very important, as I said pain will be there, but you cannot stop because of it because time doesn't stop for you. The way you have described different painful instances is really good, I myself could feel that pain while reading them.
