Last Man

The last man on earth sat alone in his room. silently waiting for something to happen. he lived in a small town in kentucky, where he had attended the university of kentucky. apparently, the russians were angry with america and had sent 2,000 atomic bombs our way. in return america sent 3,000.

He had a bomb shelter in his basement. he'd always told his friends to build one but they said 'it costs too much bro!' So here he was the last man on earth sitting wondering and asking why noone but him had survived. suddenly there was a knock at the door. for a second he thought he might have been going crazy but then it came again and again. then came a scared female voice,
"is anyone there? please. anyone?"
he stood behind the door hesitating if he should open.
"oh please let someone be here?" the girl sobs.
he opens the door.
"oh! thank god!" shouts the young lady as she hugs the man. the hug came so fast that it caught him off guard.
"um..." he didn't know what to say. he'd been all alone for 2 months. in which he had re-built his house. he had searched for the whole time but stopped 3 weeks later finding noone.
"hi i'm i- uh... oh well i can't remember but i do know that im 23 and in my 3rd year at the u.k." the girl says.
"um... hi welcome " he says "i'm donovan, 25, 4th year at the universtiy of kentucky."
"oh really, you're a wildcat?" she asks
"yup. you hungry?" he asks her as he walks in to the kitchen.
"yeah. wow! starved actually" she repilies following don.
"you should be. i'll make you some mac and cheese." he says as he starts a fire on the stove. he puts a pot of water on it and pours the pasta in, then takes a seat by the girl. "okay maybe we should give you a name till you remember your old one. is that ok?"
she looks at him. then shifts so she can move a lock of hair away from his face.
"great." she said "you name me."
"monica?" he suggests. "like it?"
"love it." she said. donovan stood and walked to the stove. he poured a little milk and powered cheese in to it then stirred and poured it in to a bowl. he put two forks in it and walked over to the table, setting it down.
"oh wow! i searched for survivours for weeks on end and found noone. i rebuilt this house" he said still not believing. noone ate. monica reaches out and touches the wall.
"wow" she said under her breath. she brings her hand back down.
"we should eat, it is getting late, we have no electicity." donovan informs her.
"okay" monica says.
they eat in silence, when they are done she gets up to take the bowl to the sink but donovan stops her. she looks up in the dark, the moonlight twinkles in her eyes. he leans in and so does monica. as their lips touched donovan realized that he no longer was the last man on earth, but that THEY were the start of a new world called love.
