It washed up in a small fishing village in northern Groth. I was skeptical by the reports of it but I still wanted to take a look. When I arrived at the village I found a large group of people gathered around it. I walked through the crowd to inspect its authenticity. It looked real. Exactly like described by the reports. A massive human. Looked just like us but gigantic. it appeared to have bruises and cuts on its pale skin. It was hurt. It also appeared to be asleep or in an unconscious state since its chest moved up and down. It was gigantic, even larger than any whale I had ever seen. I took notes on the giant's appearance and the situation around it and sent a report to the palace. I was tasked to investigate this case by the king further and observe the giant.
By the second day, I woke up to see the giant. His wounds were treated. The villagers had gained the confidence to touch it and patched him up. There were even more people gathered to see the giant. It seemed that even people from out of town were there. The giant woke up around 4:00 PM. When it did the crowd rapidly backed up. The giant opened its massive mouth and yawned. It was the loudest thing I have ever heard. The giant seemed thoughtless as it looked out to the sea with a straight face. Like if it was void of all emotion. An hour later a whole lot of people gathered around the sitting giant. Each one of them brought an offering of all the food and water they could provide to the giant. The giant with his huge hands grabbed the piles of food and ate. He also drank all the water in one sip. I saw a peaceful smile on his void face.
I woke up the next morning to the sound of waves crashing. I looked out the window and there it was. The giant standing in the ocean. Pushing around. The giant seemed to have clothes on. It appeared to be that the villagers made his clothes with all the fabric that they had overnight. It surprised me how confident the villagers felt about the giant, I doubt it was something they had seen before but they treated it like something ordinary. I went to town and asked the villagers around to find out what the giant was doing in the ocean. “it's helping us fish,” they told me. I was amazed. How did the villagers get to tell him what to do, It's something that could not be answered or at least I didn't look for the answer at the time. Eventually when the giant was done. it sat down on the shore and kids started surrounding and playing with him. The Giant had a radiant smile.
I sent the daily report to the king that night. I told him that the people had somehow taught the giant to do tasks. “the people don't seem to be scared of the giant, instead, they treat it fair”. By the 4th day since the giant arrived he seemed like a normal part of their society as if he had been there for years. Not only did it help out with fishing, But it helped build houses and pick up heavy objects. Everyone was friendly with him. I walked up to him trying to see what it was. I tried talking to him, but it didn't respond. It didn't seem that it could speak or understand me. “It won't work,” told a young girl standing next to me. it doesn't “listen to people of your kind”. This surprised me. It was an odd day I had that day. As usual, I sent the report to the king where I told him how the giant was a living part of their society and helped out in various ways. it didn't seem to have any intentions or goals. IT will not talk or listen to me for unknown reasons.
I woke up the next morning with a reply from the king. he invited me to the palace for a meeting. I arrived at the palace to get greeted by him. As we walked to the king's office We conversed about many light topics like the weather, and the concert last week. We arrived at the office and I sat down. The king sat right before me with his golden desk full of disorganized papers and ink splattered everywhere. The king spoke, “Listen, I need to exterminate the giant. Do it as soon as possible!!” I was surprised. I tried to reason with the king. “Why it isn't a threat and it does not seem to be aggressive.” “That's what you think” exclaimed the king “do you know how powerful that thing is? If the villagers somehow know how to command it, they could defy the kingdom. I need him gone now!” “I understand,” I said.
I left the palace and went to the village with my new task. I realized it was a decision for me to make. I knew the giant was innocent and the villagers were happy and not at fault. I knew it was inoffensive to the kingdom. But if I defied the king, bad consequences would come to me. I was left alone to decide what I should do. Kill the giant and live my life, or defy the king for the sake of an unknown being and a small village. I had a very hard day. I spent the whole afternoon until sunset, watching the giant. Spying him. Seeing the children run around him with the gleaming gold of the horizon. It was smiling.
That night I prepared myself for my task. I snuck my way through the village. He rested on the hill. Sleeping still. Breathing in and out very loud breaths. I knew its anatomy was very similar if not the same to a human. I stood on its chest. I was lifted up and down by its lungs. I stood on the heart. Before dealing the blow I look at him for the last goodbye. I plunged the sword down his chest into its heart. The giant quickly opened its eyes and gasped until he fell still. The giant was dead. I cried very slight tears that night for the very first time in a while. I went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning it seemed the people already found its body. I looked at the beach and there was its body. Ready for a goodbye. The people were sending it back to the ocean. Just from where he came from. All of the people told their goodbye while its body floated away atop rafts into the sea.
By the next day It seemed like he never existed. People followed the same schedule they had, they worked their jobs normally. People acted as if they didn't even know there was a giant here the last few days. I was upset in some way. It felt weird how fast they all moved on. The village acted as if it was a common occurrence. After my task with the giant, I decided to quit as a knight and moved far away, I still tell the story of the giant to this day but people still question its existence.

12/20/2022Very entertaining story! Had me wondering what would happen next until the very end. The disinterested reactionof the people was unexpected. Reminded me iof how so many powerful people pass away each day and things go on as usual as if they had never existed. Great story!
