milennium of the last woman

By Naima Bushra
Born 2002, F, from Haripur, Pakistan

Milennium of the last woman
‎ Millennium of the Last Woman
‎"Why human share an inseparable relationship with time. Time is so pathetic, it cheats you and ‎let your mind weave the fascinating longings of future and give you the lollipop of age and ‎life to fulfill it but ultimately death overtakes you. I just want to escape this toxic accord" she ‎was looking at the stars and felt like Lord reassuring her for this quest of living thousands of ‎years. She was not an ordinary girl; she was obsessed with her beauty and blooming youth. ‎Always preoccupied by her bodily beauty required excessive admiration, adulation, attention ‎and affirmation. However, she remained dependent on others for her self-esteem and self-‎confidence. She was the way fragile and fragmented and thus very susceptible to criticism, even ‎if it is merely implied or imagined. She flaunted and exploited her bodily charms and a strong ‎proponent of matriarchy, a pure rebellious soul who believed to be omnipotent. She was ‎believed to be alienated from the society and her family suggested her psychotherapy for her ‎attitude. She felt humiliated for such words of people and she ignored their words calling ‎them jealous of her and her idea of female supremacy.‎
In these thoughts where she wasn’t supported by anyone and was leading to her depression ‎she decided to leave her home and live her own life but what to do with her dream of ‎surviving 1000 years, sharing her weird dream with anyone and convincing them wasn’t an ‎easy task for her. Anyways, her best friend of childhood, Camilla she approached and told ‎her weird dream. Camilla called her a stupid idea but after much insisting of Katie, Camilla ‎agreed to take her to her husband's friend Stephen Clark, a renowned surgical gerontologist, ‎who could be a best choice. The appointment set for next Saturday, and Katie was optimistic ‎for her mission. At 11:pm she reached Dr. Stephen's lab and Stephen ensured her this was ‎soon be reality however he has not experienced in his whole career such a situation.‎
Katie's life expectancy was already very high than an ordinary human being. This could be ‎due to her prestigious longing of surviving a thousand years life. "Your cell aging is already ‎the slowest, but the professional team will undergo changes at cellular level to alter cell aging ‎process and you will be immune to any disease overtaking your body. The system implanted ‎will intervene the physiological process and you will remain an ever fresh young soul". All the ‎process got done and now the hypothetical concept of up till now the "longevity escape ‎velocity" was perfectly applicable to Katie life. From onwards, Katie started living a happy ‎life: no worries of time, age and no depression of losing her blooming youth. Her mission was ‎to introduce the concept of matriarchy in society and gathering all women folks for this Holy ‎Grail. ‎
‎200 years passed and life around her had drastically changed. Her mission was not a reality ‎yet but what happened was against her expectations. The cyborg revolution, she was familiar ‎with in her graduation was becoming the reality of the day. The famous theory of singularity, ‎which was theorized three centuries ago, actually worked. The exponential rise in cyborg's ‎population was because of human transition to cyborgs for the survival of the fittest. The ‎technology took even more deep roots and efficient version of human that was actually the ‎interface of human and robots, having an intellectual mind as human and possessing artificial ‎intelligence, a robotic trait. The cyborgs that were believed to turn despotic and rule the ‎human was wronged rather the human harmonized with robotic bodies and ultimately became ‎the cyborgs. The truth was naked and inevitable Katie was agitated and depressed, cold rush ‎went through her body as she imagined cyborgs everywhere.‎
She denied the cyborg's supremacy and never acknowledged their superiority over normal ‎human like her. A time when everyone preferred to choose to be a cyborg Katie again go for a ‎normal life as human yet she was perplexed. She was young still beautiful even after 266 ‎years of life but this time the materialistic and technological, emotionless cyborg never ‎admired her beauty. To them human were a story of past and they are best substitute of ‎human, human were more occupied by emotions, feelings and social whereas cyborgs have ‎nothing to do with such useless thoughts of impressing others, depending upon others to ‎accept them, appreciate them as human did. These all odd traits lead to human fall on earth.‎
The artificial intelligence center reported the giant red explosion of earth and the good news ‎was that the cyborgs were more likely to survive on the red planet and another prophecy of ‎colonization of mars coming true soon, it was the same planet that paved the way for human ‎survival a billion years ago and now the modern cyborgs were going back to their native ‎planet of human they had all the suited traits to overcome the Red Planet desolation. She had ‎now a last opportunity to become a cyborg to ensure her survival on Mars. Katie called it ‎propaganda against her life and consoled herself calling it mere rumors of cyborg community. ‎A beautiful shiny day, Katie recalling her sweet recollections of past and fanaticizing her ‎future while looking at her beautiful framed pictures, I'm so unlucky to live around humans in ‎the faces of robots, how these stupid creatures have bargained their precious being to such ‎cold blooded creatures. It's true, human are befallen to the consequences of being ungrateful ‎to Lord they have disgraced themselves yet being crown of creation. They are rightly treated ‎for such sinful dealing. Katie perception was actually the illusion of her thoughts; the cyborgs ‎were the more rational creatures.‎
She was stretching on a bed to relax when suddenly she felt time paused by and things ‎around her slowly escaping the gravity, the bed was also halted in vacuum and in the very ‎next moment she felt herself very light weighted and the bed replaced to an electric ‎transparent slit from which multiple projections were leading to a main stream. A cyborg ‎sitting beside her looking her eyes opened tried to communicate her and when she got her ‎senses asked him "where am I"? he replied her "you have successfully been saved from the ‎giant red explosion" her eyes widened and she couldn't believe what happened was a disaster. ‎‎"Why you guys did such a favor to me?" she one again questioned, and how I am surviving ‎such a catastrophic calamity of nature and what the cyborgs have to do with her life that they ‎saved her and even arranged a survivable environment for her on this deadly Red Planet why ‎these emotionless creatures became so kind?" She instantly recalled the wish of hers to live ‎‎1000 years maybe Lord has saved her to fulfill her desire for Lord never break His promises ‎He can do the miracles. How much time has passed since she is living oh its just 456 years! ‎But what for the next 500 years; that seems enough. Life has no charm left it's better to give ‎up the idea of living so long.‎
She was still thinking with calm facial expression unknown of the fact her thoughts were ‎being processed for the technology has advanced so much. She never had imagined in her ‎wildest dream." Are you still wishing to survive or will you ask lord to take your soul?" She ‎instantly replied "oh yeah! I'm definitely fed-up but how you come to know that I was going ‎to take such a step". "You will never know but let me tell you your soul is not going anywhere ‎we have already decided what to do with this soul it's going to be extracted not will it ‎naturally leave you". "Oh please don’t do that lord will never forgive you for such a sinful act ‎have you forgotten you are also carrying a human soul within you I'm the same I am sure you ‎will have a least of the kindness as human I admit you guys are more superior version of us ‎but this doesn't mean do this cruel act" she kept on uttering painful scream and cries but who ‎cares.‎
‎ Finally she was ready to accept the fate of her but she whispered something in the cyborg's ‎ear. If the human male was first to step the earth then a female should be the first to lead the ‎Mars community, a matriarchal society it is something to ultimately sooth my soul." The ‎cyborg after a little pause said, "That’s not a bad deal but you will hurt to know that there is ‎no female or male supremacy we are all equal, sadly this was a human thing and we don't ‎believe that. No one is super, beautiful but yes we believe that cyborg is superior to human in ‎every aspect. But let us assure you that your soul will remain here safe and sound but will be ‎used for betterment of cyborg's community. Maybe metempsychosis will lead to some super ‎egoistic cyborg" he said in a ridiculous manner. And most troubling fact was that this soul has ‎to remain for next thousand years more, for Mars's one year equalized Earth's two year. Katie ‎was realizing that her dream has turned out to be a wildest one and has become a curse for ‎her. She was there lying a useless creature the beauty she once boasted off the life she was ‎once grateful for and the idea she felt to be the most prestigious one was not more than mere ‎her thought that was never realized.‎
