Cupid's Arrow

Beware of Cupid's arrow for its fast and furious
It'll strike out of nowhere at the meek and the curious

His quiver is filled with mystical darts
which he clandestinely releases then swiftly departs

One arrow pierces the heart with hatred and dislike
and causes feelings of revulsion, disgust and anger to spike

While the other arrow pure in every fashion
will sting the heart with love and deep passion

You are soon filled with uncontrollable desire
or afflicted with a yearning to flee your inner fire

Pity the one who is hit with the lead
for his passion for love is quickly mislead

But the one who seeks love as the story is told
is lucky to be pierced with the arrow of gold.

He finds most of his victims one day of the year
when some hearts want love and others deny it have no fear

With bow and quiver and arrows of lead and gold
This mighty little cherub is feisty and bold

The god of love is ready to let his skill pursue
And you never know he could be targeting you

With a smile on his face floating high up above
he's ready to let his arrow fly
especially if you're looking for love

Happy Valentine's Day

I enjoyed this poem a lot. All the cute examples of a cupid . Rhyming was really nice too.

Sweet little poem! I learned a new word I had to look up-clandestinely. Great job! Keep them coming!

Thanks Kim. I try to incorporate and learn new words as I write my stories and poems. Now I just need to crack this writer's block.

Enertaining poem. Thanks for sharing. That realy would be something if our feelings of love were dependent on this creature who chooses to shoot us with an arrow! LOL!

Cupid: = The son of Mercury, messenger of the gods, and Venus, godess of love..

True! We like to be in control; of our decisions. I guess sometimes it does feel as if we have been smitten though.

Hi Radrook, I don't think I would want to count on his arrow for love. Thanks for reading.
