Thy Will Be Done
Born 1946, M, from PA, United StatesOh why is it that I
Eventually might die?
Just like a plant or tree.
For all eternity.
As if I never was.
Is it because, because....
I really do not know.
Why I'm obliged to go.
And leave this world behind.
Although my fervid mind.
Desires that I stay
within the light of day
And not to be erased
from this familiar place
that I have come to cherish.
Oh please don't let me perish.
And join that silent throng
The ones forever gone
Deprived of light of day.
Oh please permit me stay
Alive so I can praise
Through long eternal days
Your greatest majesty.
Your faithful servant be.
Protect me from dense darkness.
Please sheath me from the starkness,
Of death that swift approaches.
My consciousness encroaches
And growls at my doorstep.
And snarls as it has crept
Too near my fragile heart
Please, force it to depart.
Too fearsome to detain!
Too potent to disdain!
And I am forced to plead
that you do not proceed
allow my soul perish.
Instead, please, my life cherish.
Protect me from decay.
Preserve my light of day.
But let they will be done.
Despite my dying sun.
