Princess Sweat Pea
Born 1957, F, from Mesick Michigan, United StatesA friend we knew had puppies for sale
A puppy we wanted but not a male
She had two Black Lab females to be sold.
This is how your story unfold
At the house we're welcomed by two furry sisters
But soon they're off frolicking, those cute little stinkers
We watched the actions and antics of the rambunctious two
Knowing that for one, things would soon be brand new.
Before the day is over the sisters would be apart
One would be left, and one would fill our heart
One would have a new home
and one would be left to continually roam
Placing the smaller pup in my arms
Soon sent off some major alarms
Sensing in seconds she wanted nothing of that
Wiggling and squirming she wanted down flat
Putting her on the floor I picked up her sister
Hoping she wasn't going to be a resistor
I silently prayed she wanted to be held
But to my surprise YOU quickly repelled.
You dashed to the corner of a large metal crate
not knowing the outcome of your fate
this is the place you felt safe and secure
Now someone's intruding and its presence you're unsure
I entered your space slowly as not to send fear
Carefully approaching crouching down as I near
You held your body tight against the side
Hunching closer to the floor you tried to hide
Your little puppy body was quivering so much
I tried to ease you with my comforting touch
Then out of the cage I continued to crawl
holding gently to a bundle so soft and so small
I held your warm body against my chest
for there your heartbeat slowed to a rest.
You scooted to my neck burying your head in my hair
A cool wet nose faintly sniffing the air
Puppy breath is the best and puppy kisses we can't resist
You're coming home with us, mommy and daddy insist
Cute as a pickle with sad dark eyes
Our hearts you stole with your whimpers and cries
Travel to your fur-ever home was quiet and uneventful
Will you always be like this we wonder, or will you be a handful
Soon you'll be greeted by your new sister and brother
I know you all will endure a connection like no other.
Welcome to your new home little one
Your eight-week journey is finally done
Fun-loving adventures promptly await you
All you encounter will be fresh and new
Many things you will learn from Rusty and Daisy
You'll chase and chew, pounce and go puppy crazy
All three of you will be loved just the same
We chose Princess Sweet Pea to be your name
We're happy now as happy as can be
Canines we have not one, not two but three
No more looking no more defeat
For now, our family is complete
