The girl and the bird
Born 2006, F, from Dallas, TX, United States“Mommy, look,” said a little girl pointing at a baby bird on the ground. “Oh, my. It looks like it fell from its nest.” said the mom “Can we help it?” asked the little girl. “Of course, darling,” the mom said while picking it up gently with a towel. “There you go, little guy,” the mom said as she was placing it back in its nest. The next day the little girl goes outside and sees the mommy bird, but notices that it’s leaving the little bird alone. “Ooooooo the mommy bird is back, but she isn’t helping the little bird. In fact, she’s acting like it’s not even there.” She runs back inside to tell her mom what she saw. “Mommy? Why isn’t the mommy bird helping the baby bird?” she asked “Maybe, because we helped the little bird out and the mother doesn’t think it’s her,” replied the mom “Oh, no! Can we be its mommy?” asked the little girl. “Sure!” said the mom. A Week later the bird is teaching itself how to fly. When the bird flew in the house several times, they decided to release it. “Bye, Bye, Brin!” Said the little girl. “Mommy, I'm happy for the little bird.” “I'm happy for it to honey! You know you are kinda like that bird,” the mom said “How Mommy?” asked the girl “Well, in a way you’re going to fly away and hopefully start a family of your own.”
Several years later the girl and her daughter were playing in their backyard when a squirrel was coming closer to them. There was a bird in the tree, and it remembered what the girl did for it, so it communicated with all the other birds and scared the squirrel away. The girl smiled and thought this was the bird I saved when I was really young. The bird flew up back to its nest, and the girl and her daughter went back inside.
Kindness always has a way of coming back to you, usually when you don’t expect it.

04/21/2023Awe, such a beautiful little story about kindness. Loved reading this story because I'm a bird lover and have saved a few baby birds through the years.
Blessings Shelly
