Bartender's Bluff
James, Easy, Billy, and Ricky road up to the front of the old saloon and tied their horses to the hitching rail. They walked through the swinging doors and found heaven as they bellied up to the bar. As the bartender gazed at the dirty cowhands he knew he was looking at some hard worked cowboy's that was in dire need of the strongest stuff he had.

“You cowboy's look like your in need of some good whiskey. Why don't you take that table over in the corner where you can have some quiet and privacy and let me get you something to drink. I'll be right back.”

As the bartender disappeared through a door behind the bar, the four cowboys walked over and sat down at the table in the corner. As they sat down Easy reached in his pocket and pulled out a pencil and paper and began jotting down some words. James had been doing some writing also but was relaxing with his chair leaned back against the wall. Billy took out his harmonica and started playing while Ricky sang along with the tune. The song Ricky was singing had actually been a poem that James and Easy had written. As Ricky sang Easy and James hummed along.

The bartender came back through the door with a bottle of whiskey. He grabbed four glasses and brought them over to the cowboy's table.

“Fella's get ready to taste the smoothest Kentucky Bourbon ever created.” The bartender said as he poured the alcoholic beverage into each glass. As he passed them around each cowboy raised his glass and began to drink. As the whiskey went down their throats each cowboy was instantly hit with the stinging of the whiskey as it reached it's destination.

James raised his glass and proposed a toast. "My fellow cowboys and friends, here's to the best damn cattle drive ever. Everything went smoothly. I just hope that all our cattle drives are just as easy." As they clanked their glasses together they finished their drinks and sat their glasses down for more as Billy started playing his harmonica again.

As the four friends sat drinking a drifter came walking in and he was looking for trouble.

“Bartender, bring me a drink and leave the bottle.” The drifter said as he looked around the room. As soon as he spied the four cowboys he figured he had himself some easy targets. “Well hello ladies.” The drifter said as he addressed the four cowboys.

“Friend,” Easy Writer said as he looked up out from under his black Stetson. “If it's trouble you're looking for well, I think you just found it.”

“And what are you ladies going to do about it.” The drifter said as he stood staring at the cowboys.

“Well my friend, we're not going to do anything.” Easy said. “If you look behind you, you will see that the problem has already solved itself.”

As the drifter turned around he found himself looking down the barrel's of two shotguns that were pointed right at him. Without another word he killed his drink and rode off and was never seen again.

As the four cowboys finished their drinks James looked over at Easy and asked, “Easy, when are they ever going to actually put shells in those guns?”

Easy replied, “James, I don't think they ever will
