Duet Poem of Insecurities
Born 2007, F, from Washington state, United StatesIt was the sun that was setting,
Turning the sky into such a beautiful orange.
The sky practically looked like a peach!
The mish-mash of colors, as the moon rises, making everything look so beautiful.
It was this that I looked forward to every night.
The time of day where the moon would reach the center of the sky,
and my heart and soul would find peace in the night.
Like the peach burning colors of the sunset,
my emotions were alive.
Each time the moon presents itself,
Each night,
I feel proud.
Or perhaps it’s pride.
I feel an illuminating joy curtain me like a cloud.
But when it comes day,
once more my insecurities reveal.
The cover of night and peace leave me.
My arcane soul becomes trapped once more,
while still remaining reprieved.
But inside all I wish to do is hide.
