MONOLOGUE OF SILENCE
By: Asqarini
Death. They can’t understand much. And this man, the position he has as a medical doctor leads not to the answers he has always kept searching for. He and the people around him know that they only live once, so why do they bother living in pain and suffering? All they really need is a true life, as they often put it. Fun and happiness, things that people need the most.
The doctor said that the old man is dead. Cancer. It killed him tragically, he suffered the pain for a very long time, but he died taking his own life. The old man never really wanted to feel it anymore. He had a gun, and put it into his mouth. In a second, he was dead.
This one is a bit different, a girl turned into a comma because of a car accident. She is dead, but her family still believes she’s not. They trust the little girl’s soul to a machine, hoping for a miracle and to see her alive again.
What do they want? Life or death? And what do they fear most? Is it to live like hell now? I never understand the need of these people? They seem to know so much about death, as if they have lived it and returned to tell the story, and now say that life is too precious to waste.
***
But the thing they’re afraid of most is about to visit them. There will be a time that I come and destroy all of their sweet dreams. These creatures known me as Death. I am the Only thing that is certain in life. No one can avoid me, yes, they have to face me one day. They will. I will take their soul with no reserve. Be they young, old, rich, poor or even famous. I don’t care. They have to face me. They must be ready to see me. And so The Almighty has ordered, through the hand of the angel of death, I will come to all of the people who have felt the beauty of living. To remind them time and time again. I know in their eyes, very few people are happy to see me. Everyone starts to show their true face. A face of fear and mourning. A lot of people are often drowned with tears on their faces. It is the thing I have to witness every day.
Now, the soul of this young beautiful child is in the hand of the Almighty. It is not her time, yet. All we have to do is wait and wait, she is in a comma, a sad and tragic event, but destiny none the less.
Nothing has caused the parents to smile, as nothing has progressed as of yet. Her condition has been getting worse with each passing moment, and still they believe the machine will bring their only child back. We know that she’s already gone now, but that’s a fact they are not willing to accept.
***
The Angel of death stood over there, looking at the poor little girl laying unconscious right before him. Her soul sat in the bed next to her body. She smiled at him. The look on her face showed nothing but happiness. It was as if she seemed very certain with her life after.
This face I seldom see on people, who are usually afraid of me. They usually show me pain and misery every time I am nearby.
She turned her head and looked straight to her own body. She moved forward and got very close. She touched her face and gave a nice kiss on her own cheek. It’s goodbye. People do this every time they want to leave.
***
The woman wept endlessly. She looked very shocked and deeply saddened by the tragedy she faced. The accident injured her a little, but it caused too much for her daughter. She might think of dying, rather than facing the fact that she might lose her child. It’s the little girl's mother who was in despair. The man beside her was her husband. Both of them were not certain of their daughter’s condition. Doctors were telling them the same thing. The child might not make it. They sat and grabbed the child’s fingers. Then they whispered words to their precious, the one who brought life to them for the past three years. The one they loved more than anything in the world.
The woman kissed her hands, and softly and gently touched her daughters face. Tears kept pouring. She couldn’t help it anymore. In time she prayed to the one she trusted. Her lips never stopped whispering prayers and hopes that her prays would be answered.
Seven days of journey were about to end. Her time has come. From her signs I knew she had won her battle. She chose to come with me. And I can see she has no doubt. She understands that it is time for her to leave her family. And it is the time to say goodbye.
The angel brings me next to her, and she nods her head. The words I am ready to hear. I can see clearly through her eyes. Though she didn't tell me, I know her time has come, and I have to take her away.
Her smile looks so pretty, she has found her freedom. No fear you can see on the girl’s face, now she found her life in the after life.
