The Earth’s Fate Decided
The history of the Earth, as everyone knows, is one of wars, famines, disasters, insane ideologies, man’s inhumanity to man, political divide, corruption and so on---in other words, pretty bad. This is why, on a planet in a distant galaxy so far advanced we on Earth can’t even conceive of it, let’s call it Henry, the Elders, who had been studying Earth, have been debating for many years over what to do about it. In light of Earth people being on the verge of going to Mars and in fear that the Earth might contaminate other planets, the Elders had finally reached a conclusion.
The cataclysm that shook the planet Earth and destroyed all human life as we know it was sudden and irreversible. Sometime later, when things had settled down, there was a calm and peaceful place with majestic trees and beautiful flowers. In this place, the one man on Earth advanced toward the one woman on Earth and took her hand. “I don’t know how I know it,” he said, “but my name is Adam.”
“I don’t know either,” she said, “but my name is Eve.”
“What should we call this place?” he said.
She said, “Let’s call it the Garden of Eden.”
On the planet Henry the Elders nodded in approval. One faction had been in favor of destroying the Earth altogether. The other faction, which had prevailed, had been in favor of giving humans a second chance,
