Last Teddy Bear on the Shelf
Born 2007, F, from Washington state, United StatesNever had a real home
Never met my mother
Never was given that chance
And they expect a little angel out of me
They don't understand what it's like to be tossed around
To be kicked out
Because they didn't love me enough to deal with me
To be yelled at
Because they don't understand I never knew any better
To be used
Because In their mind that's all I was useful for
They don't understand what it's like
To feel like no one wants you
What it's like to be chosen only
Because I was the last they could choose from
Like that last teddy bear on the shelf
That was never chosen because
a few buttons just weren't sewn on right
What do they want from me?
I practically raised myself
What do I have to do to be wanted?
I´ve never learned any better
Why doesn't anyone want me?
Am I really that bad?
Will I ever go to a home to stay?
Questions that no kid should have to ask themselves
Hundreds of kids like me ask everyday
Foster kids
Any orphan in this world has asked these questions
And some troubled like myself ask,
When will I ever be chosen because they want me
Not because I was the last kid
they could choose from?

09/26/2024I read this and I feel like the teddy bear because sometimes I feel like that but I loved this little story and I loved what you put in it. I am making a story for me by putting the words from a book I am reading into my notebook. So I can read it again.

07/10/2023Kloe, that was heartbreaking. I hate that any child or teenager has ever had to feel that way. You captured the anger and angst they feel and wrote it beautifully. So many questions and so few answers. Great poem!
