Elegy of Remorse

Elegy of Remorse

Amidst the silent stones and weeping willows,
Beside the graveyard where memories flow,
She sits by his resting place, heart aching,
A tale of love and regret slowly unfolding.

Once he was living, full of hope and dreams,
A heart so sincere, bursting at the seams,
He tried to win her, his affections on display,
But she turned away, with words callous and cold.

In life, his attempts to impress, went in vain,
Yet he never gave up, never showed any disdain,
He offered his heart, a fragile offering,
But she remained untouched, her heart unyielding.

Now he lies in eternal nest, silent and still,
While she, by his side, feels remorse's bitter chill,
Regret like a river flows, washing over her soul,
For the chances lost, for the love untold.

Tears fall like rain, as memories flood her mind,
Of moments uncherished, of words unkind,
A chance to apologize, to heal wounds deep,
But he's no longer here, his secrets he'll keep.

In this garden of sorrow, where flowers bloom,
A symphony of regret fills the silent gloom,
She wishes for a chance, to rewrite their tale,
To mend what's broken, to no longer fail.

But time can't rewind, nor the past be undone,
She must find a way to move forward, alone,
Beside his resting place, she learns a lesson bittersweet,
Love's value is known, when it's no longer at her feet.

Beautifully written and very sad! Regret is fierce to digest, once eaten, having to have never loved at all.

Beautiful work! Deb

That is absolutely beatiful and yet so sad Zuhaib. Love lost before it was ever found. The old saying "it's never too late" may work for some things but not for love. Well done!
Blessings Shelly
