Haunted for a reason
Born 1988, M, from Thomaston/Ga, United StatesIt was a dark and eerie evening, the clouds blocking out the moonlight. A chill in the air, the two teenage girls, Sarah and her best friend Kayla, set off to explore the old, abandoned house that was said to be haunted.
The wooden steps that lead to the front porch creaked loudly under the weight of their footsteps. They were both nervous and excited as they slowly approached the door. They glanced at each other and Kayla gave Sarah a nod and a small grin as if to say, 'Let's do this'.
Sarah slowly reached for the old brass knocker on the door. She timidly knocked; three hard knocks echoing through the eerie silence. No answer. They both waited for a few moments before Sarah slowly turned the cold, metal handle and the door creaked open.
They stepped inside and nervously looked around. Everything seemed so still and there was a musty old smell that filled their noses. They both shivered and tightened their grip on each other's hands as they began to make their way through the old, deserted rooms.
In each room they explored, they heard strange noises and felt a sudden chill. Kayla squeezed Sarah's hand more tightly each time and they both wanted to leave as soon as possible!
Finally, they stumbled upon a room that didn't feel quite as eerie as the others. It seemed to be filled with some kind of life, although it was still old and forgotten. This room was different in a way that Sarah couldn't explain.
As they looked around further, Sarah noticed a large old mirror in the corner. As she nervously stepped closer, something in the mirror seemed to move. A large, ghostly figure appeared. Sarah and Kayla both screamed and ran from the house.
As they were running, they could hear an old man's voice whispering 'Come back tomorrow. We have a lot to talk about.'
The girls ran as fast as they could and never looked back!

10/04/2024That was an interesting story. I like the details you added about their sensations (cold handle, musty smell). They bring it more to life. Let us know if the girls go back. I'm figuratively dying to hear what the old man has to talk about.
