The Widow's Tale
Born 1955, F, from Lovelock, Nevada, United StatesCthulhu, is said to be a fictional entity created by fantasy-horror writer H.P. Lovecraft and introduced in his story The creature is described as “a monster of humanoid form. but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of tentacles and with a scaly, rubbery body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind.” It is said to be so terrible to behold that it destroys the sanity of those who see it. Once I believed " The Call of the Cthulhu " and the author H.P. Lovecraft. I now know that the creature is real.
Cthulhu is characterized as the priest or leader of the Old Ones, a species that came to Earth from the stars before human life arose. The Old Ones went dormant, and their city slipped under Earth’s crust beneath the Gulf of Mexico and other vast bodies of ocean. They communicated with humans by telepathy, and, in hidden corners of the world, civilized and uncivilized humans remembered and worshiped Cthulhu in beyond pagan rites the rites were loathsome. The statues of Cthulhu were made of materials not found on Earth. His followers chanted the phrase “Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl ” (“In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming”). When conditions are right, the city will rise, and, with the help of the eternal Cthulhu cult, Cthulhu will awaken and again rule the world.
The beloved Captain and husband who was obsessed with the construction of the underwater city that must be resurrected and restored to the Earth. Toward this goal he recruited two other creative geniuses to design and construct three civilizations, Audreyannis, the civilization he named in honor of his mother. The second civilization was named Paul Ann. It was the brainchild of Benjamin ( bad attitude) Harvey.it would be constructed in respectful memory of his mother Paula Anne, and his sister Annie Elizabeth. The third civilization, Patricia Ann, was the brainchild of The creative genius Stanley ( Little Glenn) Leonard.
A fourth civilization, " Dreaming Star " , is an orbiting celestial confederacy of city states. Glenn A. Hume created Dreaming Star first in his imagination then he created this futuristic civilization in short story and comic book format. Dreaming Star was envisioned and created in honor of his future wife. His ability to see the past, the present and the future.he predicted her name would be Marsha.
The Great Old ones, The Great Old Ones are the main antagonistic race of the Cthulhu Mythos by the late legendary horror author H.P. Lovecraft. ( Not so) They are a pantheon of demonic extraterrestrial gods cast out of Heaven with the fallen angels and theNephilim. The Nephilim are the Cthulhu gods of lesser power.
In December 1979 the Great Old Ones brought Marchosias one of their own to Glenn, the angel that was chosen to be his wife. The sea Captain saw Marchosias, it was love at first sight. The way Cthulhu planned it.
Marchosias was doubtful how this mixed marriage would work out. She was contractually bound to Glenn until the end of eternity.Time was without end and so was this union.
Machosias was at Glenn's side When Vietnamese immigrants who had resettled on the Louisiana Gulf Coast got a toehold in the local fishing industry, white fishermen were spoiling for a fight. Glenn was a boat captain and shrimp fisherman. Machosias was his wife. She was on his side. They had a family member who farmed the gulf for survival.
August 1980.When Hurricane Allen struck, it was a rare and extremely powerful Cape Verde hurricane that affected the Caribbean, eastern and northern Mexico, and southern Texas and Louisiana Marchosias was at his side. She shared his fear and he shared her deepest fears. An open 16 foot Jon boat ( Audreyannis) wasn't the safest place to ride out the fifth largest cyclone of history.
Now, if you will, fast forward to September 10, 2009 just before dawn on September 10,2010 the captain Glenn is terminally ill in his final campaign with Kidney Failure, stage. His death was imminent. Marchosias wasn't expecting his death that day.
In the predawn hours of September 10,2010 ,Marchosias ( Marchosias) was visited , in a dream or premonition by Her husband Glenn. He was standing in the doorway of their bedroom. Glenn standing in the doorway, if it was real, was a miracle.
At first he spoke of how they had found a cure for his paralysis. And his renal failure. In this dream state Marchosias responded. " Good we can call the American Medical Association in the morning." If the message was reality. It would be hard to explain to herself or Glenn much less the A.M.A.
Glenn was then speaking to her about how hard it must have been for her to let him go. He asked How she had come to her decision. This was the first of many questions she could not answer. She didn't know but, her mind provided answers she'd rather not give.
In Glenn's mind She was returning him to his extraterrestrial realm and his mission the cities Audreyannis and Dreaming Star.
Then he said he wished she had discussed it with him before hand.he wished she had given him an opportunity to make peace. In an angrier tone he called her decision spontaneous. He said he had to go back to his hospital bed and finish dying.
Glenn looked at her and spoke in a disappointed angry tone. " Marchosias, your decision was spontaneous. You didn't think at all. He said he was disappointed in her. Then he kissed her cheek and whispered. " I forgive you."
Masha cried in her sleep. " This has to be a night terror. "Euthenasia ( mercy killing) is something I am incapable of." Glenn had the power to see the past. He had seen her past and had led her away from the nightmares childhood and adolescence had caused her. Glenn could see the present and the future. This man, her husband, had accused her of Euthanasia.
Marchosias thought and thought had she mixed up his medication? Had she accidentally given him too much or too little medicine? Had he mistakenly taken her medicine and his? Had the dream been the product of the many times Glenn had Requested her help to end his suffering. No! This had to be a curse from the Old Ones. Assisted suicide and accidental death or even involuntary Euthanasia were not possible.
Her soul, the soul Glenn had graciously given her, died. This had to be a horrible dream, a torment from the Old Ones. Her name granted her the strength of the wolf and the Griffin. Her name was listed amongst the fallen angels.
With the break of dawn, Her duty as Caregiver dictated that she wake her mate. She was required to bathe him and dress him for an eight o' clock doctor's appointment.her Uncle would be there at 7:30 to provide transportation from home to the appointment and back home.
Before she reached his hospital bed Marchosias knew something was seriously wrong. The flickering lights of the television appeared to pass through Glenn's skin which appeared translucent. He appeared angelic.
Marchosias smiled as she thought of sharing the images with Glenn once she had him awake. She approached the hospital bed.. She called his name several times. Her partner of 31 years was unresponsive. Marchosias shook his shoulder. He was ice cold to the touch. During the night the god.Cthulhu, the Old one , had taken him from her.!
Marchosias made the trip down the hall. The hall seemed dark and cold. She could not recall the hallway being this forbidding before. Marchosias held on to the walls for strength and support as she made her way to the kitchen . She felt herself and her world moving in stop motion photography.
Instinctively she dialed 911.
The voice on the other end asked, " what is the emergency? "
Marchosias responded, My husband is dead.
The stupid dispatcher asked, " Are you sure?" Marchosias was very sure.
Again the stupid dispatcher asked, " were you fighting with him?"
No!
" What happened? " The stupid dispatcher asked.
Marchosias responded, I woke up this morning. I found him unresponsive. He was icy cold and pale, very pale. He is dead. I know death when I experience it directly in my face.
The dispatcher instructed Marchosias to perform C.P.R until she was relieved by some medical personnel. She was instructed to stay by the phone.
Marchosias was a fallen angel, not a magician. knew the instructions contradicted each other. She couldn't be in both places at once. Actually she could have fulfilled both instructions there were two cellular phones in the house. But, Marchosias wasn't thinking that far ahead. For this instant, she was 100% mortal.
Marchosias tried several times to administer C.P.R. She had tried several times before making the 911 call. Marchosias knew she should remain beside her companion. She should continue C.P.R. until some medical personnel relieved her. She would try again. To administer C.P.R. she couldn't. The demons within her demons prevented her from being loving and showing her love for Glenn.
She clung to the walls of the apartment as she made her way back to the phone. She would begin calling family members. Which was a direct violation of her vows to " love, Honor, and obey." She prayed for the inner and outer gods to forgive her lack of submission. She also prayed Glenn hadn't meant that part of his final wishes.
The first one she called was to cancel Glenn's ride to the Nephrologist. In the conversation that followed she said " Glenn has died." She asked each person she spoke with to forward the message. That one call notified her mortal family.
She phoned Glenn's family.again she asked each one to forward the message to the others. They expressed condolences and promised to tell the other family members.
Marchosias called the dialysis unit. She informed Glenn's nurse that he wasn't going to return to treatment. She asked why? Marchosias responded " Glenn died this morning. The dialysis nurse expressed condolences and told of Glenn's last day in treatment as being positive and uplifting.
Marchosias called the home health agencies who would inform the Licensed Practical nurse and the aides who cared for Glenn.
The neighbors continued to pop in and out of the apartment. Marchosias was sure one neighbor had arrived on the exhaust of the firetruck, the police, or the ambulance. It was to be expected. Whenever death is in the air the birds of prey descend. This neighbor took the wedding ring from Glenn's finger and placed it on her toe. This was another monster, another torment from the Old Ones.
The paramedics arrived quickly. She apologized for not staying at the bedside and for not performing C.P.R. until the paramedics relieved her. It was a service she had failed to perform for her husband. And it was an act of love she'd not have an opportunity to do over again.
Marchosias heard an officer ask, " should I call a car for her ?" They were thinking of arresting her because Glenn had died? Marchosias heard the words. She was brain numb to numb for the full impact of a murder accusation to fully register.
In response to The Young officer the Coroner said," that lady in there is the widow. Show some respect. For the love of God and everything decent show some compassion. Are you blind, deaf, and dumb? She is. Crumbling beneath the grief.
No! Should I find it just cause I'll bring her in." Officer, you're dismissed furthermore, you're on report."
But, he's dead and she's the only one here. See the bruising on his back and buttocks.
I see the results of blood having pooled in the areas. There is no murder scene here.
DISMISSED !
A few minutes later two uniform officers wheeled Gusion into the kitchen and passed her.
The county coroner placed an arm around Marchosias's trembling shoulders. The Coroner was questioning her about her wishes for after life care. Marchosias had no wishes for afterlife care.
She said " cremation" , that was the only thought that came to her mind. It was Glenn's final wish. That and to be buried at sea.
Marchosias dreaded the noon meeting with the Funeral director. The meeting meant more questions, more decisions she wasn't prepared for. The selection of an urn for Glenn's ashes, another decision and expense Machosias had not considered. Thankfully Glenn's brother stepped in. He offered to use his credit with Hobby Lobby to purchase Glenn's urn. Machosias was thankful.
The burial clothes were decided. Glenn would be dressed in his own clothes. Marchosias brought a Western shirt and jeans for the viewing, for the cremation, for his afterlife care.
The question " does Glenn have any implants or prosthetics that could affect the cremation process?
Everyone laughed when Machosias said " yes, he has a penile implant." Her -law explained that wasn't the prosthetic he was talking about. Maybe her ignorance had shown up at the wrong time. She was embarrassed having to give that answer.
The choice of minister had to. Remain unchosen. The funeral director made the choice.
The ceremony was a combination of Seventh Day Adventist, Southern Baptist, and non religious
Every decision made came with a price tag attached.
The memorial services were a combination of a small family reunion, a gathering of friends and an Old Fashioned Irish wake.
At the close of the public memorial Marchosias took Glenn home and placed his urn on his side of the bed.
