Panic Room
Born 1973, M, from Ocoee, Florida, United StatesPanic Room
From some rooms there seems to be no escape; the panic held within them is the reality of your life. Such a beautiful mind that oh too frequently houses horrors. My heart rate quickens as the dread comes over me; it escalates to beyond uncomfortable. Frantic, I scratch at my arm but there is no itch, only uneasiness. Peace and victory are so far from my thoughts, they have been replaced with fear of fear of fear. My anxiousness bubbles to the surface slowly, steadily until finally it erupts!
Extreme worry and unyielding fret I agonize with, seldom finding slumber but still needing to hide. The walls of this room offer no clues to escape but I have struggled free before. It takes time, sometimes it takes medication, but the panic of anxiety is real. Remember the good times and believe they will return, slowly your disquiet discomfort will die down. Pain comes in many forms attacking heart, body and brain. When again trapped in that room, panic not, for it is only a storm that will soon pass, and you will again survive it just as you did the last.

08/31/2023Cam,
Anxiety might well have beat out depression as the curse of our World of bubbles and boxes. You captured it well, and let hope have its place. Good job.
