A mystery

Naresh was busy cooking his favorite dish in the kitchen while listening to his favorite songs. This was his way to enjoy the Divali vacation. He was a teacher at a school. It was his way to enjoy the vacations. He was about twenty-five years old and living alone. After cooking he began to prepare a cup of black tea.

All of a sudden his mobile began to ring, it was a call from his best friend Shiv Kumar.
Shiv Kumar was a famous journalist working for a famous news channel.

"I am in Badalpur to make a documentary about the UFO sighting last week, " Shiv Kumar told him on the phone.
Hearing this, Naresh said, "Do you believe in the existence of UFOs and aliens? It is just an imagination by the writers, movie makers, and some so-called scientists. I don't believe in it."

Shivkumar replied, "I, too, don't believe in it but my company sent me to Badalpur to make a documentary. In addition, I like to cover the news that involves mysteries."

And an idea came to Naresh and he said, "That's great. Badalpur is not away from Ashoknagar. I would like to come to Badalpur to meet you. It has been a long since our last meeting. Where are you staying in Badalpur?"
Shivkumar, at this, said, "That is a great idea. I will be so happy to meet you. "



The next evening, Naresh was on the way to Badalpur in his car. Badalpur is a small town with a population of about two thousand. Most of the people there are involved in farming and cottage industry.


Last week, some people in the town saw some flying objects moving at rapid speed in the sky. People at first thought of their being helicopters or drones but when these objects began to come down and began to hover above the lake, people began to reach the lake to see what they were. What people had seen was strange enough to surprise and scare them. These objects were as if they were made of light and only light having no metal. These objects remained hovering over the lake for some minutes and then they moved high in the sky with great speed and then disappeared into deep sky. Some people tried to take photographs with their mobiles and cameras but very few people were successful. There was nothing in the photographs except white light in the photographs.

Driving about fifty miles on the highway, Naresh was now driving on the narrow and old road full of pots. This road would lead him to Badalpur. The road runs through the dense forest. Naresh was now feeling uncomfortable driving through the dense forest. Almost no traffic on the road except for one or two vehicles passing him in several minutes. He saw a milestone and felt relieved. The milestone told him that Badalpur was ten miles away. Soon he will be in Badalpur. The driving of at most half an hour. He had to reduce the speed of the car to only ten miles per hour due to the bad plight of the road ahead. He was not used to driving a car on such a road.

The weather was hot and he had to use the air conditioner. But as he drove ahead, he felt cold and this, and he had to turn off the air conditioner. All of a sudden, crossing a turn, he saw a dense fog ahead. The fog was so dense that he had to slow down the car. He slowly entered the fog. The next second, going a meter or two ahead, the fog began to glow with white light. He got afraid and immediately stopped the car. He looked behind and saw nothing but a bright light. There was nothing but a bright white light around him. He dared not to get out of the car. He was shivering with fear and cold. He did not know how much time he remained in the state. He lost the sense of time. He began to lose his patience. And then brightness began to fade and within a few seconds, Naresh. And then the fog began to lift. There was no cold now and he was feeling warm. After a while, the fog got sufficiently thin, and he continued his journey. After going about a mile, Naresh saw a man asking for a lift by waving a hand. Naresh stopped the car near the man. The man came near and said, "Please, would you like to drop me at my home? My home is about a mile away from here."

Naresh gave him a lift. He was a smart-looking middle-aged man. The man introduced himself as Vijay and thanked him for giving him a lift.

The weather was getting worse. Naresh could see the lightning in the storm. The man said to him, "Where are you going? "

Naresh replied briefly, "Badalpur."
The man said, "Heavy rain is about to come." Naresh heard the thundering of clouds. The wind was blowing fast. Naresh said to him, "Maybe. Badalpur is not far away from here. I would reach there before it begins raining."

The man looked into Naresh's eyes and said, "You will reach there after the rain is over."


In the light of the car's lamp, Naresh saw falling drops. Within no time it began heavy rain. The rain got so heavy that it became difficult to see through the rain. After driving in such a way they reached near a bridge. The man said, "Here is my house." Saying so he indicated a house built near the bridge. It was a big house that seemed to be newly constructed. Naresh stopped the car on the side of the road. So far the raid got so heavy that it was almost impossible to drive a car on the road. The man said to him, "I think you should wait till the rain stops. Driving in such bad weather is too risky. "

Naresh is an expert in driving in heavy and stormy weather, so he followed the advice of that man. Naresh drove the car to the parking of the house. The man took him into the house.

The house was well-decorated and had costly furniture. The man introduced Naresh to his wife and son. They were very friendly. The wife served Naresh a cup of hot coffee. A conversation began over a cup of coffee.

"I have heard that UFOs had been seen in Badalpur last week. Is it true?" Naresh asked Vijay.
Vijay looked at his wife who was sipping the coffee. His son began to look at Naresh with great curiosity. Vijay replied, "People are talking about it. It is a hot topic in Badalpur. We didn't see any flying objects in the sky." He paused for a while and then said, "Do you believe in the existence of flying saucers and aliens?"
"I don't believe in it. I think all this stuff is just an imagination. Just stories. "

Hearing this Vijay felt relief. His wife and son were silent and sipping their coffee. His son looked at Naresh and gave him a sweet smile.
It was raining dogs and cats. Naresh was hearing the thunder.


Vijay asked, "I heard that a team of scientists and a journalist are in search of aliens in Badalpur."

Naresh replied, "I can't say of scientists but I am sure that a journalist is there. He is my friend."
Vikay got curious and asked, "What will he do in this matter?"
"he will make a program about the incident," Naresh replied.

Vijay said to him, "But there is one doubt How will you identify that a given creature is an alien?"
Vijay's son began to smile and said, "Uncle! Uncle tell me how will you identify?"
Naresh said, "It is easy. Alien if exists they are quite different from us humans."
Vijay argued, "But many species on Earth are quite different from humans. Are these species aliens?'

Naresh replied, "Certainly no."
Vijay said, "If aliens exist and live around you. It will be very difficult for you to identify them. The laws of physics are the same for the entire universe. If they exist they look like earthlings."

Naresh began to think something. The child was now happy and smiling.

Vijay said to Naresh, "And if aliens are capable of breaking the laws of physics, it will be more difficult to identify them."

Naresh asked Vijay, "Do you believe in the existence of aliens?"

At this question, Vijay smiled and said, "Yes, if I have proof."


Now the rain was light and there was thundering. Naresh said, "The weather is now going to be calm and it is time to continue my journey. Thanks a lot for sheltering me at the time of heavy rain."

Vijay along with his family accompanied Naresh to his car and wished happy journey.


It took Naresh about twenty minutes to reach the inn in Badalpur where Shivkumar was staying. Here Shivkumar introduced him to another person named Ramdas who was a scientist and professor at a university. Ramdas was in Badalpur to investigate the case of a UFO sighting.
After the introduction, they had a dinner. After dinner, Ramdas got busy with his instruments and devices. Naresh and Shivkumar went to another room to sleep.


In the morning, they woke up at the call of Ramdas at the door. He was happy and excited. Entering the room he said, "I got a signal for the presence of aliens. They are not far away from us. Would any of you like to come with me?" Saying so, he harried to his room.


After half an hour, they along with some instruments set off in a van. Shivkumar was driving the van. Ramdas was working with the instruments. Within ten minutes they were on the way to Ashoknagar. They had not to go too far. After driving for about ten minutes, they reached the bridge. Naresh recognized this bridge. This was the same Bridge, that Naresh passed last night. After crossing the bridge, Ramdas asked to stop the car and said, "As per signals, the aliens must be somewhere near this place."

Naresh asked himself with surprise, "Where is the house where I took shelter last night?"
The direction was the same, the bridge was the same, and the banyan tree was the same but the house was nowhere. Naresh went near the banyan tree and looked around. All of a sudden his eyes fell on the tire marks made by his car on the soil. He followed the marks of the tires. The marks went some feet and then ended.
Just then Ramdas passed him having a device in his hands. Ramdas went beyond the marks of the tires up to the bushes some meters away. Ramdas stayed there for a while working on his devices and then he began to return to Naresh. Ramdas stopped about three meters away from where the tire marks ended. Ramdas was very excited and did some calculations on a piece of paper. Shivkumar standing beside Naresh looked at Ramdas and tried to guess what Ramdas was doing.

Ramdas looked at them and said, "Here in this place, the level of radiation is the highest. It means the aliens stayed here for a long time.

Hearing this Naresh said, "And here was the house I visited last night."
Shivkumar turned to him and said with surprise, "What house?" Ramdas too, began to look at him with surprise.

Then Naresh told them all what had happened last night right from the dense fog to his conversation with Vijay and his family in that house."
Hearing Naresh's story, Shivkumar said, "I don't believe in your story."

Ramdas said, "Are you sure that this is the same place that you saw last night? I think you are mistaking this place for that place."

Naresh thought for a while and then said, "I am sure this is the same place because there is no other bridge on the way from Ashoknagar to Badalpur, and the house was located near this bridge."

Shivkumar said, "It might be that you stopped your car on the way near the bridge and then fell into sleep and then dreamt a dream."
Naresh said, "No, it was not a dream. It is a reality because you can see the marks of my car's tires on the soil here. "
Ramdas argued, "The marks are not solid proof. Thousands of tires have such marks. In addition to it, the soil is dry here so there is no question of heavy rain last night."


Just then a villager came to there and introduced himself as a watchman of the village located about a kilometer away. He asked them what they were doing there.
Naresh said to him, "We are in search of someone named Vijay. Where is the house that was located here where we are standing? Do you know Vijay?"

The watchman smiled looked at him from toe to head and replied, "Which house you are talking about? I pass this place every day. I never saw any house here. I don't know any Vijay."

Hearing this Shivkumar said to Naresh, "you have had a dream last night."

Ramdas asked the watchman, "Did you see any strange thing flying in the sky or any strange people here?"
The watchman, "Do you mean UFO and aliens? People of Badalpur claim to watch these things. I, too, saw a strange thing hovering over the bridge last week."

When they were returning from the spot to Badalpur, Shivkumar asked Ramdas, "What do you think of what happened to Naresh last night?"
Ramdas thought for a while and then said, "I think it may be a hallucination or a dream or Naresh might reached another dimension or it may be some type of simulation created by a very advanced civilization. Only God knows."


That evening Naresh, Shivkumar, and Ramdas held a party in the inn and they enjoyed fine wines and a delicious dinner. The next day Naresh returned home and didn't tell anybody about what happened to him. Shivkumar didn't include this matter in his documentary. Ramdas is silent over this matter.
