All Alone
It was going to end. No more pain. No more loneliness. Jade looked over the edge of the building. Fifteen stories down, and she would be gone. Her black hair whipped around her face, as she stepped up to the edge.
"Don't do it!" her mind screamed at her. "Remember what it was like before? It can be like that again!" Tears streamed down Jade's face as the memories flew through her head. Jade and Lizzy laughing until they couldn't breathe. Lizzy making faces at Jade, trying to make her laugh in the middle of her science presentation. The last memory... After the car accident. Lizzy in the casket, her face pale, and her eyes lifeless. Lizzy's mom's words,
"We all need to live, so that Lizzy's legacy will continue." But Jade was tired of the pain, and the guilt. Jade was the one who convinced Lizzy to try to drive with her knees. Jade looked back over the edge of the building. The words echoing around her "We all need to live... Need to live... Lizzy's legacy...Lizzy." A faint smile came on Jade's face, she needed to make a decision. Live for Lizzy, or die for herself.

Interesting story. I agree with JD. Your character needs the option of living for herself.

Thanks for the interesting read. About her choices, in order for Jade to feel that she deserves to live for herself, she needs, to divest hersef of that tormenting guilt of having been the cause of Lizzy's death. How she can accomplish that is the crucial question.

Your two 'choices' are manipulative since you do not include the option for Jade to choose to LIVE FOR HERSELF.

I didn't think of that. I'll keep that in mind next time. Thank you!
