The coldness of the late hours of the night was spine-chilling. The streets were deserted. Heavy fog descended upon the town. A sudden shriek made Eric, a watchman who was dozing off, shiver. He looked here and there but saw only the tall trees standing silent. His heart pounded when he heard the creepy cry of a woman. An extra-cold gust of wind touched his shoulder, sending chills down his spine. Frozen in terror, he turned around and found two floating eyes staring at him. The gaze was so intense that it seemed to pierce through his soul. The colour of the eyes was blue. They possessed a cold emptiness. Suddenly, they disappeared. Eric was spooked. His breath became shallow, and his body trembled.
Suddenly, he noticed Norah, a woman who had been murdered by a serial killer. He ruthlessly gouged out her eyes. It was while Eric was dozing off.
Soon, her shadow vanished in the darkness of the cold night. Out of nowhere, he heard a loud shriek, reminding him to get back to work. After this, everything returned to normal. However, this eerie encounter with Norah made Eric careful, and from that day onwards, he fulfilled his duty with vigilance.
