God and That Pesky Planet Earth


God was lining up a difficult putt on the heavenly golf course when his right hand man, that is, right hand angel, Michael, approached. Uh oh, said God to himself, this can’t be good. Aloud, he said, “What is it now? Is it that pesky planet Earth?”
“I’m afraid it is.”
“The Mideast, I suppose.”
“Yes.”
“Is the war going badly for Israel?”
"Not exactly, but you’d think that after Hamas launched a surprise attack in which they killed civilians, raped women and beheaded babies and then took hostages worldwide sympathy would be with Israel. Instead, just the opposite has occurred and it seems that the entire world, or a good part of it, is arrayed against Israel and Israel may be fighting to preserve its very existence.”
“Hmmm. I remember that way back at its inception Israel accepted the partition of Palestine only to be attacked by every Arab country.”
“Yes, it took a miracle for Israel to survive then.”
“So it did. So it did.”
“I know you like to have miracles far and between as too many cheapens them, but I wonder … Well, I’ll leave you to your golf game.”
“Hmmm. You’ve given me something to think about. Be sure to keep me informed.”
God went back to lining up his putt but he was distracted and it went wide. On the Earth a series of thunderstorms suddenly occurred.
