The Edge of Meaning

I will wait for you, my dear
When the sun shuts his eyes,
I will be there, do not fear.
Even after the world caves in,
Even after the sky turns black,
And if I must go, I will wait,
For you, I will always turn back.
Do not fear the end, my dove.
We shall meet tomorrow.
In the core of the cold stars,
Our souls will be hollow.
For we know, that we are alone
In the big dark universe,
And there is nothing we can do
To understand ourselves.
We will ask each other:
Has it always been this way?
And we will stay silent
Because the answer, we cannot say.
And we will laugh, i think
Because we are not alone.
We have one another;
We have love, after all.
And together, we will watch
The silent death of stars.
And at the edge of meaning
A new beginning starts.
