Kris.
Kringle.
Saint Nick.
Names.
Familiar like,
Jolly Ole Elf.
Santa,
Father Christmas,
Yes! That's him.
Different as they are.
Known
by many
near and far
for his giving spirit
and his mighty “Ho! Ho's!”
His
Christmas Spirit
is all around.
Hope renews, Love endures.
It is felt by all,
glowing in a young child's eyes
Children
visit him
with their list
of wants and wishes
while their parents stand amidst.
Little one's whisper in his ear,
“Santa, I have been good all year.”
Cheerful
ole fellow
with twinkling eyes
and rosy, red cheeks.
His nose like a cherry.
A smile that's full and wide.
His laughter is contagious as many know.
Santa's joy and cheerfulness endlessly continues to flow.
Around
every corner
in every store,
Santa's, ring silver bells
Every ring a story tells.
These people are Santa's important helpers.
They collect toys for girls and boys.
Elves take the toys to the North Pole
where they're wrapped in Christmas paper, ribbon and bows.
Dressed
in red
with black boots.
White fur- trimmed suit
needed to keep Santa warm
on those bitterly cold Christmas nights.
A soft red stocking cap strategically placed
upon his head so coldness he can embrace.
Gentle hands encased snugly in warm cozy red mittens.
He's all bundled up from his cap to his boots.
Reindeer,
total nine.
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer,
Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner,
Blitzen and Rudolph of course,
wait all year for this flight.
Practice flying in the dead of night,
Above mountains, through clouds, against rain and snow.
Guided by the magic of the Northern Lights glow.
Nothing will stop the fearless nine from their journey tonight.
The glow from Rudolph's red nose, they have plenty of light.
Sleigh
Bright red
thirty feet long
and three hundred pounds.
Velvety benches created for two.
One for the mystical man himself.
And Santa's little helper faithful and true.
The sleigh is examined and polished to shine.
Every thing must be perfect in this special design.
Long narrow runners are carefully waxed for smooth rooftop landings.
One last minute check, communication system, speedometer, de-icing system and cockpit.
Dial in the flight GPS for a fast trip around the world.
Elves
have been
busy all year
building brand new toys
to fill Santa's long lists,
for good girls and good boys.
Toys have changed through out the years.
No longer just baby dolls, trucks or trains,
Easy Bake Ovens, Evil Knievel, Hot Wheels and planes.
Elves must now attend trainings in engineering, technology and more.
Because the toys are so advanced and sophisticated, they must explore.
The toy assembly lines run nonstop day and night all year long.
Light boards, flying balls, Stem and drones. They should be reliable and strong.
Mrs.
Santa Claus
kind and sweet
makes lots of goodies
for her husband to eat.
Spaghetti and meatballs, mac and cheese,
pizza, chicken, tacos, salad, no carrots please.
But cookies are Santa's favorite food of all.
Peanut butter, gingerbread, chocolate chip, sugar, his most favorite treat.
He'll wash down his cookies with white milk or eggnog.
He eats three meals each day and many snacks in between.
“Eat up. Eat up.” Mrs. Clause insists. “Children want a plump Santa.”
“Your belly must shake with each “Ho! Ho! Or you haven't eaten enough.”
Because Santa slacks on his diet during the off season, Mrs. Clause is tough.
It's
Christmas Eve
around the globe.
Exhausted moms and dads
await the peace and quiet.
Teeth are brushed, pajamas are on.
Family Christmas Eve traditions begin to unfold.
Some children happily open one present this night.
Still some families watch a Christmas Holiday story together.
Tikes listen as 'Twas The Night Before Christmas', is told.
Children and parents sip hot cocoa and eat popped caramel corn.
This is the night for Santa, his elf helper and hungry reindeer.
Important traditions we must not forget, is to leave a treat for them.
Cookies for Santa, candy canes for elves, magic reindeer food and carrots for Rudolph.
Children are tired, traditions are fulfilled, evening prayers are said now its time for bed.
Meanwhile,
North Pole
is buzzing with
energy, excitement and hype
The big night has arrived.
Months of busy Elves designing toys.
And reindeer practicing take-offs and landings.
Santa rehearsing his boisterous and joyful Ho! Ho's!
and perceiving that his belly shakes when he laughs.
Mrs. Clause making sure Santa's suit is fresh and clean.
Mittens are sewn perfectly; boots are polished to a sparkling sheen.
Elves are carefully checking over Santa's all important naughty and nice lists,
to make sure children on good list get toys and naughty get none.
Reindeer with full stomachs are hitched to the sleigh with Rudolph in the lead.
The nine are eager as Rudolph shines his nose in anticipation of a long flight.
The elf caretakers of the sleigh conduct the final inspection and await Santa's most important approval.
All
is ready
for the longest
night of the year,
With seven continents to visit
and millions of miles to travel,
his magic bag is full of presents
soon to be delivered to ALL waiting children.
There's a misconception that 'naughty' children don't get toys.
But in Santa's eyes all children are precious and good.
Children from around the world write their special letters to Santa.
Every letter mailed to Santa is read by Mr. and Mrs. Clause.
Elves closely examine the “Chimney Meter Ball” and send their findings to Santa.
Magical chimneys will instantly appear where none exist to transport Santa in side homes.
Inside Santa's Toy Shop the Elves are busily cleaning and wrapping up the toy making.
They will then take a restful break for three months, then it's back to making toys.
Saint Nick's magical giant red sack filled with never ending toys is carefully carried to the sleigh.
Santa
climbs in
his Christmas Sleigh,
checks the evenings forecast
before they begin gliding away.
Rain, fog, and Christmas Eve blizzard
Santa's not concerned, because he has Rudolph.
Counting on his glowing nose to guide them,
they can fly through any type of inclement weather.
Their most important goal is to see the toys delivered.
Jolly Ole Elf and his helper are buckled in and ready.
He boldly calls out “Now Dasher now Dancer and Prancer and Vixen!
Our team is mighty fast! On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen!
Rudolph! are you ready to guide us tonight with your red nose so bright?”
“Oh Yes! Santa!" Rudolph proudly declares as he swiftly leads his team into the night.
“Up Up and away!” Santa flies into the dark guided by Rudolph and the Northern Lights.
Landing on rooftops, delivering toys, drinking white milk and the occasional eggnog and eating delicious homemade cookies.
As he zips through the night he exclaims, “Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!!

12/23/2023Shelly,
Congrats on the Story Star of the Day Award. Loved it. And I stand in awe at the uniuqe writing technique you have developed into an Art Form. What a way to build a poem/story ...one word, then two, then three...then we all sit in amazement.
Merry Christmas, Kevin

12/23/2023Thank you, Kevin. You always offer insightful comments. This writing style is fun but very challenging. It took me a long time to write this. It can be difficult to think of rhyming words. One of the more difficult concepts is making sure the sentences flow smoothly. This is not easy when you're limited with a certain number of words in a sentence. But I believe I grasped the idea for the readers. I'm currently trying a murder mystery in this same technique. We'll see if I can pull it off. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

12/23/2023Thank you, Stephen for taking the time to read and leave a comment on my story. It's much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed. I've been trying a different writing technique which was used on this story and on the story 'Haunted'. In the story 'Haunted', I went backwards with my words in each sentence back to one word. I'm currently working on a murder mystery using this same technique. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
