Looking back

You were bright as a star,

Dreams and future seen through your eyes.

Sorry for my recklessness when you were just a child.

Sorry for all those nights you spent crying, while nobody was watching.

With no one to talk to.

Sorry, to have never seen your efforts and just expected perfection.

While you were breaking apart, making you feel weak.

To have made you think being the strongest was the key, it was all a lie.

Rather than helping you, I pushed you down.

Sorry to compare you with strangers when all you needed was my validation.

To have made you feel worthless when you were giving your all and beyond.

Sorry to have never given you my trust, instead I said you weren’t good enough.

Sorry to have wished to be someone else, and to not have taken my time to know you, myself.

Only now I’ve realized how wrong I was.

All we needed was self-love and worth.

Not the approval of others.

All I needed was to accept myself and feel proud of you,

My younger self

Well well well! This is a powerful letter to my own younger self too.
I was young and made mistakes, learned powerful lessons and now have learned to forgive myself and move on.

Thank you for sharing this!
