The Sordid Game
Born 1998, M, from Kolkata, IndiaI caress the face of the slender brick ,
Such that the blackness fades with a stroke of thumb,
And the blinding brilliance of all things which are,
Which were and which will be ,
They make me dumb
They make me numb
.I submit my being to the One, and zero,
As I scroll through the infinitudes of me, myself and I,
But neither quite myself, nor quite someone else,
Rather rageful reflections recurring,
They captivate my eye,
They never tell me why!
I have emerged a caterpillar after man's pupation,
Smiling as I die in my broken cacoon,
Willfully wrapped and wrangled in weakness,
They sounded the tune,
They will take me soon
I am now ready to take my place amongst,
The ones who are ready to take theirs well,
Shamelessly surrounded by sordid succubus
They are done snatching my name
They have won the sordid game

05/24/2024I was happy to see a new story from you after so long a wait, Kanishka... then very saddened and worried after reading it. I know it is listed as fiction, but I hope that is all it is and that there is no truth in it, since it seems so dark and depressing. It seems to be about suicide, so I can only hope and pray that you are not feeling that way. Talented and sensitive people, like you, tend to feel things more deeply than others. But please don't allow the actions or inactions of others which may cause pain to define nor cause you permanent damage. Circumstances change and often light breaks through clouds. There is always a beautiful new day shining just beyond the storms of life. And your own mind and perspective can change everything. It is the way you CHOOSE to view your circumstances that can make all the difference. Choose to see the good, the hope, the light in the darkness, and the path forward....

05/24/2024I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. that is a wound that will take a very long time to heal and the grieving process will be a lifetime, but it will become less and less over time. May you receive divine comfort and healing as you journey through it. i will look forward to more of your stories in time. please take good care of yourself, Kanishka.

05/24/2024Hey julie,
So glad to see that my stories are still a fleeting thought in your mind.
I sincerely appreciate your concern and assure you that this piece is not about suicide.
Quite ironically I have suffered the loss of my dear mother a few months back and that has led me to some dark places. I guess darkness too casts a shadow unknowingly on your life. The same must have reflected through this poem.
Thank you for the support and kind words!
Will soon be getting on the writing wagon
Regards
