The Legend of Marialis a Forgotten Star
Born 2010, F, from Moncton, Canada.jpeg)
The Legend of Marialis a Forgotten Star
A long time ago, a princess named Maria was born in a faraway land. Maria had 7 older siblings and 5 younger siblings. All of Maria's siblings played in pairs and she was always left out. Maria still loved her family even though they didn't love her back. She always looked at the bright side of things to notice they were hurting her.
On the evening before her 7th birthday, she sneaked out into the castle's yard and found herself in a rose garden. She picked a rose and admired it. She kept on picking rose after rose too busy admiring them to notice their thorns going deep into her fingers, and their poison seeping through her veins.
She came across a gate and went through it. She got herself lost in a maze. Soon she began to feel hungry, so she started running. She thought she was going to the safety of her palace but in truth, she was headed straight to the yard where neglectful gardeners threw old vines and poisoned Ivy and prickly things.
The poor princess didn't realize fast enough that going through this yard could harm her. It was getting dark and Maria was frightened. She ran as fast as she could but she never reached the end. The vines tripped her, the debris stuck to her hair, the sharp twigs cut her and though she tried desperately to comfort herself with her roses, they hurt her more. She was lost, alone and scared. She realized too late that she was in a trap with no way out.
She stopped. She was cold, hungry, bloodied and lost in her own castle's grounds. Her legs were tired and they couldn't run anymore. She felt sick and exhausted. The poison was doing its job. She sat down and leaned against a stump. She longed for wind, a breeze, a gust, anything. She wanted to breathe fresh air. But the weather wasn't helping. The air felt thick like honey in her lungs and it hung like steamed butter in the air.
Maria fought to breathe, but it was not doing any help. Her breathing became shallower and shallower. She felt chills and shivers. And suddenly she found she could breathe no longer. The earth had decided her time had come. Princess Maria died alone and cold that night. Her body lay still in the moonlight, her last breath frozen in the air. No one knew she had ever existed. She was forgotten, and her story would never be told in the land.
Her parents continued to rule and forgot about their daughter.
The star fairies took pity upon this poor soul and transformed her into a star so that she would always be above her ungrateful family who had never treated her as a family should.
The Fairies gave her a new name, she was to be called Marialis. And so, Maria lived and still lives somewhere among her huge family of stars. Perhaps she is finally happy now and will stay happy forever.
