The ghost of fame
Born 1974, M, from Rabat, MoroccoThe sun settled in the middle of the sky in complete control over the scene, and no creature dared to confront its tremendous power, the manifestation of its huge courage, and the clarity of its presence. The sky took on a blue color, sending hope and optimism into the thirsty souls, and provoking their beauty, while the few white clouds remained scattered, in complete reverence and awe to the sovereignty of the sun and the blue of the sky.
In the heart of this natural landscape, and at a certain point on the Earth, Kamal chose to sit under a tree, seeking and longing for shade and psychological comfort in a world full of contradictions, conflicts, and illusions. Certainly, it is a very small point on the earth that is fading in front of the undeniable greatness of the universe. Yet, this point holds a rich repertoire for every weak human being who finds ones biological, historical and psychological belonging and roots. How can it not be when it is the land of the grandparents and ancestors and offers a fulcrum for those who have gone astray and lost their way and their vision?
Obviously, nature stands for calm and tranquility, but Kamal represented the contradiction of the treasures of nature. Indeed, he was hijacked by anxiety, pressure, and suspicion. His mind remained unable to keep pace with the motion of nature and be in harmony with its exquisite language and divine beauty. Kamal lay on the branch of a tree, hoping that he might gain some of its stability, magnificence, and confidence, especially after having lost the battle of the vicissitudes of life that threw him on the coast after being tossed by its brutal waves, and he only reaped fatigue and loss.
The man was contemplative and open to what his eyes captured of the elements of the scene, immersed in the stunning truth of the harmony of colors with the architecture of all elements of nature, without looking for monopoly, distinction, or attracting attention, since each element enjoys its personal distinction and contributed in the collective distinction. No single element strives toward the forefront as long as the entire collective system is at the forefront. In the man’s mind, several thoughts and ideas were flowing, rushing and accumulating towards building some questions:
“How can some people yearn for fame, do their best to attract attention, and invest everything in order to achieve it? If they really knew its truth and the rights and blessings it confiscates, they would yearn for an eternal night and turn away from the day. I thought I had been striving for glory, manifesting the role model that every person dreams of, but I truly had been a victim of illusions and hallucinations woven by the spider of misguidance and loss, residing in her house without invitation or welcome. I lost my humanity, with its pure natural instincts, and many friends turned their back on me, after I had asked for normalization with everything that was unnatural, and the unreasonable became reasonable, acceptable, and justified.
My life slipped away from life and vanished into nothingness. If the strength of presence is in absence, then my presence is an absolute absence while I am the super star of the masses, whom most people desire to meet, but only in the persona of my handsome and elegant side. Among the inhabitants of this village, I find simplicity and do realize that it is the art of life that only philosophers with insight and proof can live. They find glory in the details of life and the very simplicity of things.”
