The Importance of Having Hedges
Born 1980, F, from Eagan, MN, United StatesWhen we first moved into our house, one of the things we enjoyed was the backyard. It was separated from the opposite house and that backyard by a low fence. Tall shrubbery against the fence (on the neighbor’s side) afforded extra privacy. We couldn’t see the neighbors and they couldn’t see us.
So, we could chat in our backyard. We could toss a Frisbee, and nobody saw our fumbles. We could roast marshmallows while in the nude. Just kidding. We didn’t do that last one.
And then things changed.
The people in the opposite house moved. A new family moved in. A few months passed. One (awful) day, the shrubbery disappeared and revealed a spacious backyard and what appeared to be a new deck…that directly faced our yard. A whole crew sat in chairs that faced our yard.
And we’ve since learned that they really like their deck, and they enjoy spending a lot of time sitting on it. They have that right, of course.
So, what to do now? Buy privacy hedges? Maybe. Then again, marshmallows are a lot less expensive.
