The Melting Glaciers
Born 1960, F, from San Antonio Texas, United StatesGlaciers are formed on land. Icebergs are chunks of glacial ice that break off glaciers and fall into the ocean. This leads to rising sea levels. This erodes Coastal areas, which in turn destroys property and causes death to Humans and Animals
When glaciers melt, because that water is stored on land, the runoff significantly increases the amount of water in the ocean, contributing to global sea level rise.
Melting Arctic sea ice triggers a host of other devastating consequences—from depleting available ice on which walrus can haul out or polar bears hunt to changing weather systems around the world by altering the pattern of the Jet stream. The rising sea levels give rise to longer and more destructive Hurricanes. This also leads to more inland heavy rains and Tornadoes, and this leads to death of Humans and Animals.
The Greenland Ice Sheet has shed about one-fifth more ice mass in the past four decades than previously estimated. The majority of glaciers on the landmass have retreated significantly, and icebergs are falling into the ocean at an accelerating rate. This additional ice loss has had a direct impact on sea levels, and could hold implications for ocean circulation in the future. Of the 207 glaciers in Greenland 179 retreated significantly since 1985, 27 held steady, and one advanced slightly.
Most of the ice loss came from below sea level, in fjords on Greenland’s periphery. Once occupied by ancient glacial ice, many of these deep coastal valleys have filled with sea water. But the loss likely accelerated the movement of ice flowing down from higher elevations, which in turn added to sea level rise.
When the ice at the end of a glacier breaks off and retreats, it’s like pulling the plug out of the fjord, which lets ice drain into the ocean faster.
Specifically, since the industrial revolution, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions have raised temperatures, even higher in the poles, and as a result, glaciers are rapidly melting, breaking off into the sea and retreating on land. Some arid mountain region people depend on the annual runoff of melting Glaciers. If this trend continues these communities will not have enough water for growing crops or consumption. This will lead to famine. In 1315 - 1317 Europe had a severe Famine. Children were abandoned to starve or be eaten by predators. Some people turned to cannibalism as a means of survival.
With the rising Sea Levels there may be a huge die off of Ocean creatures. I know I love fish, but what happens when all Ocean life is extinct? My theory is the Oceans will die off. They will become just large Canyons where no life can exist.
A theory I have is that bacteria's that have disappeared from Earth may reemerge once the Glaciers melt. We may have no immunity to these bacteria it may be the final toll for us Humans and the Animals.Â
Even if we significantly curb emissions in the coming decades, more than a third world’s remaining glaciers will melt before the year 2100.

09/24/2024Don't worry friend, GOD'S hands are on all things. and as our bodies reproduce cells, the earth has to change as well, everything is alive. Remember: GENESIS 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

09/24/2024Thank you for you kind words. I just fear God may punish us for not taking care of Mother Earth. God made all things and when we profane them he may be dissapointed in us. Thank you again.
