'I feel' means... "I have emotions". I'm only human after all.
'I think' means... "I have an opinion". Who doesn't!
'I believe' means... "I have perspective". It's taught me what's good, bad, and all the in between.
'I conclude' means "I have autonomy". My holistic approach to life.
When I conclude, I have autonomy. What does it mean? For me it's a viewpoint. I've considered my life situation to deduce what kind of life makes sense for me. It's important to take responsibility for YOUR actions they say, of course it is. Yet how society operates does not align with the mantra above.
Society does not enable freedom, accessibility, or desire rather necessity, routine, and rules. There is a certain stability and grounding in the latter 3 features that are admirable, but doesn't always make for a better world.
The order of those 'I' statements is no coincidence:
- 'I feel' is the least convincing, it's the root of desire without a solution.
- 'I think' suggests one has thoughts without context.
- 'I believe' is expressive but subjective and not usually relevant.
'I conclude however, is one of the most definitive and affirming statements one can make i.e."I conclude I have autonomy". Starting with 'I conclude..." in conversations shows I know my worth, my strengths and weaknesses, am confident, and above all self-aware.
When you possess these qualities, gaining autonomy becomes tenfold easier and most importantly gives you and I purpose in our extraordinarily normal lives.
I was inspired by Green Day's 'All By Myself', hence the Dookie image.
