Internal Feeling
Born 2005, M, from Lagos, NigeriaINTERNAL FEELING
As she sat in her small, cozy office, staring blankly at her computer screen, Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling that had been gnawing at her for weeks. It was a sensation she couldn't quite put into words, a mix of emotions that seemed to swirl inside her like a vortex.
At first, she had tried to brush it off as mere infatuation, but as the days went by, the feeling only intensified. It was as if her mind was trying to tell her something, but she couldn't quite decipher the message.
Sophia's thoughts drifted back to the day she met him – Alexander, the charming and handsome stranger who had swept her off her feet. They had met at a conference, where Sophia was a speaker and Alexander was a attendee. Their eyes had met across the room, and Sophia had felt an inexplicable jolt of electricity run through her body.
As they talked, Sophia discovered that Alexander was married, with two young children. But despite this, she couldn't help but feel drawn to him. There was something about him that seemed to resonate deep within her, something that made her feel seen and understood in a way she never had before.
As the days turned into weeks, Sophia found herself thinking about Alexander more and more. She would catch herself wondering what he was doing, who he was with, and what he was thinking. She would scroll through her phone, re-reading their conversations, searching for any hint of affection or interest.
Despite her growing obsession, Sophia knew that she had to be careful. She couldn't let her feelings for Alexander consume her, not when he was already committed to someone else. But as the weeks turned into months, Sophia found it increasingly difficult to resist the pull of her internal feeling.
She began to experience vivid dreams, fantasies that left her breathless and wanting more. She would wake up in the middle of the night, her heart racing, with an overwhelming sense of longing. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she was meant to be with Alexander, that their love was destined to be.
As Sophia's obsession grew, she began to neglect her work, her friends, and even her family. She would spend hours scrolling through social media, searching for any glimpse of Alexander's life. She would show up at events and conferences, hoping to catch a glimpse of him, to maybe even exchange a few words.
But despite her best efforts, Sophia couldn't seem to get Alexander's attention. He would smile and nod, exchange a few pleasantries, but he never seemed to truly see her. And yet, Sophia couldn't help but feel drawn to him, like a moth to a flame.
As the months turned into years, Sophia's internal feeling only grew stronger. She became convinced that she and Alexander were meant to be together, that their love was the key to unlocking true happiness. But as she delved deeper into her obsession, Sophia began to lose touch with reality.
She would experience intense mood swings, veering wildly from euphoria to despair. She would become convinced that Alexander was secretly in love with her, that he was just waiting for the right moment to leave his wife and children for her. And when he didn't, Sophia would plummet into darkness, consumed by feelings of rejection and despair.
As the years went by, Sophia's friends and family grew increasingly concerned. They would try to intervene, to stage interventions and offer words of caution. But Sophia wouldn't listen. She was convinced that her internal feeling was guiding her towards true love, and she was willing to risk everything to follow it.
In the end, Sophia's obsession with Alexander consumed her. She lost her job, her friends, and even her family. She was left alone, a shell of her former self, haunted by the ghost of her internal feeling
As she sat in her dark, empty apartment, surrounded by the shattered remains of her life, Sophia's mind was consumed by a singular thought: Alexander. She couldn't shake off the feeling that he was the only one who truly understood her, the only one who could save her from the abyss of her own obsession.
But there was one obstacle standing in her way: Alexander's wife, Sarah. Sophia had always seen Sarah as a rival, a woman who had stolen Alexander's heart and was now standing in the way of their true love.
As Sophia's obsession reached a boiling point, she began to formulate a plan. She would get rid of Sarah, eliminate the obstacle that was standing in her way. And then, Alexander would be hers.
One night, Sophia snuck into Sarah's house, her heart racing with anticipation. She crept through the darkened hallways, her eyes fixed on the bedroom door. She slowly turned the handle, pushing the door open with a creak.
Sarah was fast asleep, oblivious to the danger lurking in the shadows. Sophia's eyes narrowed, her mind consumed by a singular thought: kill. She raised her hand, the knife glinting in the moonlight.
But just as Sophia was about to strike, she heard the sound of sirens outside. The police had been alerted, and they were closing in. Sophia's eyes widened in panic as she realized she had been caught.
The officers burst into the room, grabbing Sophia and pinning her to the ground. As they handcuffed her and read her her rights, Sophia's mind was consumed by a singular thought: Alexander. She would never be with him now.
As the officers dragged her away, Sophia caught a glimpse of Sarah, shaken but alive. Sophia's eyes narrowed, her mind consumed by a singular thought: revenge. This wasn't over yet.
The police car sped away, Sophia trapped in the backseat, her mind racing with thoughts of Alexander, Sarah, and the obsession that had consumed her life. She knew she would never be free, not as long as her internal feeling continued to haunt her.

11/30/2024What a sad story. No matter what she, her family or friends did, she could not change her addiction to thoughts of Alexander. I wonder how many other people have similar problems with social media. Maybe some day someone will discover a way to nudge people out of this sort of spiral.

11/30/2024I completely agree. It's a growing concern in today's digital age. Perhaps greater awareness and education can help people recognize the signs of obsessive behavior and seek help before it's too late.
