Reading Poetry
Born 1975, M, from Manchester, United KingdomReading poetry in the lamp glow
on a rainy afternoon
as a storm whose name I forget
taps its fingers on my window,
is like waking from
the best night’s sleep
to find its Saturday,
like sitting up after the well-needed massage
you’ve had booked for weeks,
like when your awful
hangover shifts,
and you feel like yourself
once again.
