The day everything went wrong
Born 2009, M, from Gävle, SwedenIt was in the middle of the cold winter. It was a cold and dark snowy night. I was walking with two of my friends we were walking in the town of Bollnäs. We were walking towards the skatepark Gumpels. When suddenly six or seven guys came out from the woods. They wanted to talk with me. I didn’t know what they wanted. They grabbed my arm and pushed me towards a forest grove. They kicked me on my legs and back. I was scared and wet. I started to cry. They started to ask me things I didn’t know. They slapped me across my face several times. I was shaking as tears rolled down my cheeks. I didn’t know what to do, I was scared and feared for my life. That one sentence that would echo through my head the rest of my life. “You’re lucky I don’t have my bag with me, otherwise you would have a hole through your forehead by now”. I still didn’t know what they wanted. They didn’t say anything. They pushed me around until they brought out their phones and said, “Kiss my shoe”. I followed their order. After that they kicked me in my face, making me bleed from my nose. Then grab my arms and lift me on my feet again. They started to ask what shoes, phone, jacket I had. I didn’t reply. I felt the salty taste of my tears run from my cheeks to my lips. I felt the cold snot run from my nose. Then he pushed me and screamed “Run you bastard, run!”. After which they started to count from 10. I started to walk until they threw a stone at me and screamed “RUN!”. I ran for my life through the dense woods. Two of the guys ran after until they stopped and turn around. I ran through a road up to a small house area. I took out my phone and called the police. I explained what happened and started to walk home. I walk through the city when I saw the guys again. I ran for 20 minutes until I came to an industrial area. Where my mother came and picked me up. I waited at home for an hour before a police car came and talked to me. Fast forward two years and I still have the sentence in my head “You’re lucky I don’t have my bag with me, otherwise you would have a hole through your forehead by now”. I still had won the court case, but I won’t forget it.

12/14/2024What a scary thing to happen to you! You were brave to write it down, though. It takes courage to admit to not feeling in control. I hope that you feel better now.
