She grew up and barely saw him. He had a lot of work, and he only came home on a few weekends.
One day, when she was already a teenager, the family of her friend María Eulalia invited her to go with them to Caibarién beach. They had a car and would leave at dawn and return at dusk.
Her mother, Monga Peluca, allowed her to go. She knew the family and trusted everyone to take good care of her.
After several dives, back on the beach, she went to a cafeteria with her friend to buy ice cream. And there she saw him. Following her first impulse, she wanted to run to greet him. But then, she stopped in time - because he was walking on the arm of a woman.
Surprised, she asked María Eulalia to return without the ice cream. She did not want to be discovered.
"Mama, I know why Papa rarely comes home. It’s not work. He has a mistress. I saw her in Caibarién!“ she told her mother immediately after arriving.
Monga Peluca didn’t know what to say. Her eyes filled with tears.
Finally, she replied, "You must forgive me, my daughter. Because that woman is his wife. I was always the lover!“
