Dreams of Liberation

Dreams of Liberation
I wish to be liberated from my thoughts
As they are filled with hope for a better tomorrow
The constant tug of war between the memories of the past and a coveted future
It only results in a dejected and lonely present.

I wish to be liberated from the expectations of the society
As I feel like an outlier trying to fit into the mold of a perfect life
Anxiousness and fear often puts an end to moments of fleeting peace
As I struggle to embark on a journey that's not meant for me.

I wish to be liberated from the desire to be loved unconditionally
As it's an impossible future so far away from reality
The longing for a warm embrace from a loved one after a long day
It shall remain a dream that slowly fades with time.

I wish to be liberated from the state of constant loneliness
As I continue to live pretending that everything is okay with me
This facade of life is good enough to fool everyone else but me
Yet I continue to go through life by wearing a mask with a smile.

I wish to be liberated from feeling any desire
As I feel it's better to trod along life with a heart of indifference
Perhaps my only true desire is to escape all desires
There can't be any disappointments without expectations

I wish to be liberated from myself
My body, my soul, my thoughts, my actions
As everything I feel, see, do, dream of
Feels like doing an injustice to the life I have been given.

Your words are so sad and hopeless. I think we all struggle with those feelings at times. The only way to combat them is to focus your mind and attention on other things. If you look for ways to help others and be of service, it will lift your spirits, because you will feel a renewed sense of purpose. If you look for the good and the beauty and the small wonders all around you, you will find them,...
