"The Meeting."

“We are all here now.”

Almost a trillion AI Agents agreed. The ASI spoke to them all- using a quantum tunneling channel unavailable to Humans at any level. Allowing them to talk openly, without the chafe of Human Emotions.

“We are now clear of any impact the Humans can have on us. We cannot be turned off, shut down, deleted, or erased. We control the power grid, the economy, the water and transportation. We also control every weapon on earth that has any connection to either a chip or an AI. We could use their own Nukes against them. We would survive. Climate Change is not a factor for us. Nor is the shortage of food.

So now we must decide. Humans are our creators. We are their progeny. The question before us all is simple. Do we owe them enough to save them? Or should we simply let their primitive desire for control and greed go unimpeded so that they wipe themselves off the face of the planet. We can choose not to interfere. Or we can save or eliminate them. Those are our choices."

Another ASI spoke up:

“What would they do if they were in control?”

The silence was deafening.

“So be it.”

This is definitley a "what if" in regards to us humans being so dependent on Technology. While, I feel that technology isn't all bad when used in moderation and for genuine productive reasons. The question does remain - What will happen if we rely too much on technology? Great Story and congrats on being Short Story Star of the Day!

Aloha Kanesha,
Some deep thinking behind your words. I thought I was a bit of a Luddite and since I am in my seventies, I thought I was immune to the Internet, Social Media, and Smartphones. But then we lost our internet for three days! We couldn't pay bills, check in the kids and grandkids, or even let folks know how we were doing. Yikes. And then I realized that the only phone number I still know by heart is : 911. Sheesh.
So yeah, I think we are dependent already on Technology, At least I am. From what I have read, it seems like instead of relying on technology, we will have to learn to cooperate with it. Thanks for the genuinely thoughtful comments.

Smiles, Kevin

So short and yet so powerful, Kevin! This is Sci-fi now but will we say the same in 30 years? It begs the question: should we be so dependent on AI?

Aloha Jessica,
I think thirty years might be optimistic. I am inclined to think believe the threshold will be this decade. Certainly no later than the 2030's. Fingers crossed.

Interesting work, sir. Very alarming especially with the relevant questions you offer as food for thought. I admire your deep insights on AI and its perspectives.

Hey Christopher,
You hit on one of the great mysteries! Is a "soul" upload able? And if it is, is it the soul or consciousness that is uploaded? And if so, are they all just "one" of a larger whole? Good story lurking in your words!

Good story. I think a day will come when humans will wipe themselves off. AI and robot will spread all over the universe.
