The Depreciation Of Love
Born 2009, F, from Abuja, Nigeria.jpeg)
The Depreciation of Love
In a world where love has become a commodity, we've lost sight of its true value. We've reduced it to a transaction, a give-and-take, where the depth of our pockets and the physical pleasures we can offer determine our worth.
But love is not a currency to be traded. It's not a feeling that can be bought or sold. Love is a choice, a commitment, and a sacrifice. It's the willingness to be vulnerable, to be hurt, and to be transformed.
We've forgotten that love is about connection, not convenience. It's about embracing each other's imperfections, not expecting perfection. It's about being present, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
In a world that's lost its way, we must remember that love is not something that can be measured by wealth or physical pleasure. It's measured by the depth of our hearts and the sincerity of our souls.
Let us reclaim the true meaning of love. Let us love without expectation, without condition, and without apology. Let us choose to see the value in each other, beyond what we can offer.
Only then can we experience the transformative power of love. Only then can we find true connection, true meaning, and true fulfillment.
So let us rise above the noise, above the superficiality. Let us love with intention, with passion, and with purpose. For in doing so, we'll rediscover the beauty, the joy, and the freedom that true love brings.
Let us love with abandon, without fear of rejection or heartbreak. Let us love with kindness, compassion, and empathy. Let us love with our whole hearts, without reservation or condition.
For when we love truly, we open ourselves to the possibility of being hurt. But we also open ourselves to the possibility of experiencing profound joy, deep connection, and transformative growth.
So let us choose love, not as a feeling, but as a choice. Let us choose to love, not just those who are easy to love, but those who are difficult, those who are different, and those who are in need.
For in choosing love, we choose to see the humanity in each other. We choose to see the beauty, the worth, and the value in every person we meet.
And when we do, we'll discover that love is not just a feeling, but a powerful force that can transform our lives, our relationships, and our world.

03/13/2025One more thing: you are clearly a very gifted/eloquent writer. You should turn your attention to short stories. Read the masters - Chekhov, de Maupassant, etc. Write something in the 3 - 5,000 word range. Focus on expository prose, dialogue and plot. Write slowly. Don't ever rush!
