What would Earth look like if all it’s land ice melts?

Land ice, We got a lot of it. Considering the two largest ice sheets on earth the one on Antarctica and the one on Greenland extend more than Five Million square miles combined. But what if it all just melted?I

If all of earth's land ice melted, it would be Cataclysmic. This is putting it mildly. What would our coastlines would look like if all the land ice melted. It isn't great, Lots of European cities like, Venice, would be underwater.

Climate change.

We continue to burn fossil fuels and emit carbon into our atmosphere, the planet gets warmer and warmer. And that, means melted ice.

A Study found that if we don't change our ways, there's definitely enough fossil fuel resources available for us to completely melt the Antarctic ice sheet.

This self-inflicted disaster is certainly within the realm of possibility.

In Africa, and the Middle East Dakar, Accra, gone.

Millions of people in Asia, in cities like Mumbai, and Tokyo, would be uprooted and have to move inland. Where would they go? There is not enough land to accommodate them. These areas would face Famine, disease, and starvation. This would have a Domino affect for the rest of us.

South America would say goodbye to cities like Rio de Janeiro. The Giant Statue of Jesus would be underwater. I guess the Marine Life would convert the statue into an artificial reef.

In the U.S. places like Houston, San Francisco, New York City and the entire state of Florida, would disappear into the sea.

Sea levels would rise 216 feet, if all of earth's land ice melted into our oceans.
Much of America's most populated regions would be severely affected by rising sea levels.

The West Coast, goodbye San Francisco. The East Coast, goodbye Philadelphia. The Gulf Coast, goodbye Bourbon Street.

We got a small sampling of this in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina battered Louisiana. More than One Thousand people died. This does not take into account the Pets, Strays and Wildlife death toll.

Our actions today are changing the face of planet Earth and will continue to do so for tens of thousands of years to come,

This brings to mind The History Channel series LIFE AFTER PEOPLE. They simulate and make conjecture of how Earth would recover after all people are gone. Earth would heal and recover but how long would this take? Nuclear Reactors would melt down and the area of disaster could be Ten Miles or more. The area could be Fifty Miles or more for contamination of Food and Water.

For example the Nuclear melt down in Chernobyl.

The Exclusion Zone

Wildlife has seen a surprising resurgence and even thrived in the decades since the disaster. The radiation exposure caused damage, including the "Red Forest" where trees died, With no human activity a diverse ecosystem has flourished. Large mammals like wolves, lynx, and bison, have returned, birds have made the Exclusion zone their home.  Some animals, especially smaller species, have shown some genetic and developmental changes.
 
Some of the Human inhabitants live close to the Exclusion Zone hunt Deer for food. A Study shows these Humans have a higher than average amount of radiation. How long will these people live? Will they have genetic abnormalities? Will they pass this on to future generations?

Most of our coastlines are still intact! And they can stay that way, too if we act now.

We need to keep coal, gas, and oil in the ground. I realize this is almost an impossible act, but we need to curtail our abuse of Mother Earth.

We call this Mother Earth. Well Mother Earth may decide her Children are no longer worthy. She may decide to cast us off and let herself heal.

World leaders are starting to treat the global crisis as the threat it poses. How? I encourage you once again to do your own research and decide for yourselves how you can make a change.

May we Honor Mother Earth as should be.
