School Cop The end
Born 1941, M, from Santa Clara, CA, United States
FTO:
J. H. was not out of the picture yet. It was about 0200 and I was notified of an alarm at Reed Elementary. In this case we had Sonitrol (this company actually listens to the noises in a building) as the reporting party. They only said they heard glass brake, and nothing else. I was close so I responded. I turned off Reed onto 6th street and parked near the [portable classrooms. I advised dispatch and heard J. H. say he was responding. I told him to take the 7th street parking lot side.
I walked up the elevated porch to the door. I actually stood in front of the door and thought I should take my head out of my, you know. I moved to the side and unlocked the door as quietly as possible. I slid my hand around and turned the lights on. When I stepped inside there was a male in his late teen's early twenties standing there holding a VCR and a IBM Selectric typewriter. That same voice that told me to move now told me this might be a good time to take my gun out.
Pointing my gun at him, I told him to set the items on the desk next to him. I then did a standing search for weapons. Finding none I had him lay on the floor, and searched his legs, cuffed him and stood him up. As I was standing him in walked J. H.. I just looked out the broken window in time to see the headlights to a pickup truck come on and leave the lot. I was so mad I could have spit nails. I did say, ''J. there goes his partner.'' He gave me some BS about he thought I needed his help. I asked if he could book my prisoner, and he said he could.
There is a lot more about J. H. that I could tell you, but he went to San Jose State Police and became their problem (he even made sergeant) shows cops have a sense of humor.
Burglary:
At about 0230 one of my unites saw several boys on the grounds of an elementary school. They were going to stop them. It turned out that a neighbor also saw something and called the SJPD. I responded and came up from the rear of the school. As I was driving through the neighborhood, I saw a boy coming from between houses and crossing in front of me. I stopped the boy because 0245 wasn't the time to casually stroll through the neighborhood. He didn't have the right answers to my questions, so I hooked him up and took him back to the school. It turns out that we in fact had a burglary and now had four boys in custody.
SJPD also responded and I told the sergeant what we found and were prepared to do. One of his officers, however, wasn't pleased with my remarks and voiced his opinion. He and I exchanged words, and the sergeant told me he would take care of the officer. I should point out that that same officer lied about an accident involving Roger Falkowitz noted above and was later terminated for falsifying
a police report. Anyway, the boys were cited, and their parents came to pick them up. They all had to go to juvenile court and got juvenile time for their transgressions.I can't say what happened o that SJPD officer but in my humble opinion hanging would be ok with me.
