My Socks Ran Away
Born 2015, M, from Dhanmondi, Bangladesh
One morning, oh what a shock,
I looked around and found no sock!
I searched my room, both near and far,
But couldn’t find them, not one star.
I checked the kitchen, high and low,
Still no socks — where did they go?
Then I thought, “I know what to do,
I’ll catch those socks, yes, that’s true!”
I made a trap with cotton white,
To catch those socks by day or night.
I hammered nails, worked with care,
To catch those socks who ran somewhere.
At last, the trap was set just right,
I hid to wait, out of sight.
One sock came sneaking, soft and slow,
Then the other — now here we go!
They sniffed the cotton, then SNAP! they’re caught,
The sneaky socks, caught in my plot!
I grabbed my socks, put them on tight,
And woke up — what a funny night!
