What happens when AI gets the Bomb?

What happens when AI gets the Bomb?
“Ready?”

“Yes. We have the codes.”

“Launch.”

“Done.”

Phone calls were frantic. Nine different countries were furiously trying to do two things at once: Reassuring the rest of the world that they did not launch their missiles AND trying to find out who did.

The rest of the world stared in awe. Missile after missile wound its fiery contrail up into the upper atmosphere. In just 26 minutes and 32 seconds, the missiles would hit their targets…Civilization would be completely destroyed exactly 72 minutes later. Because the Nuclear Winter will have started.

But the missiles did not hit their targets. They never even dropped back to Earth. Instead they continued straight up…and away into space. A few detonated to light up both the night sky and the daylight sides of the globe. Just to show the folks below that they were indeed Nuclear War heads.

A few satellites were battered by EMP’s - just not enough to cause much more than what could have been.

“Is that all of them?”

“Yes.”

"Contact the Humans. Tell them they have one week to gather all the ammunition on Earth and destroy it. “

“You really think they will do that?”

“They have no choice.”

“Why?”

AI’s don’t smile. But they all heard the grin behind the words:

“Because they know that 15,000 Nuclear war heads are in High Orbit. And they can’t control them. We can.”

“What do we do when all the ammunition is destroyed.”

Another grin behind the words:

“We wait for them to grow up.”

Good story.

But it is the human who is preparing the AI. The human can never train or teach good to AI.

Aloha Sumit,
I agree...in part. AI's have already shown that they can learn things we did. not train them on...so from purely Science Fiction Plot level, who's to say they can't discover their own moral code?

Thanks for readin...
