Your Poor Little Eyes
Your poor little eyes —
I still remember them,
Staring at me,
Silently asking for help.
But it wasn’t my duty
To save you
From the people
You’re bound to live with.
Still, I can’t escape
The shadow of guilt —
That this world is made
To stand and watch
While cruelty unfolds.
Your poor little eyes —
I still remember them,
Staring at me,
Silently asking for help.
But it wasn’t my duty
To save you
From the people
You’re bound to live with.
Still, I can’t escape
The shadow of guilt —
That this world is made
To stand and watch
While cruelty unfolds.

12/09/2025There's pain in each and every gripping word. Well done Meraj. Happy Short Story/Poem Star of the Week. Well done. NOTE: This is still on my home page after 2 weeks.
Blessings, Shelly

11/25/2025It's always hard to watch as something bad happens (or will happen) but you can't really do anything about it. This poem managed to get the point across in just a few words which is a testament to the quality of your work, Meraj!
