PARENT'S LOVE
Adult, M, from Monrovia, Liberia
In a town called Odeka lived a poor family named Zeegbos. They were so poor that they had to work for other people in order to sustain themselves. The family consisted of Henry Zeegbos, his wife Mary Zeegbos, and their only son Austin Zeegbos.
Henry was a very strong man. He worked so hard day and night to provide food for his family.
One day, while Henry was heading to his farm, he stumbled upon a huge amount of money that had dropped from a rich man who was visiting Odeka.
When Henry found the money, he began searching for the owner, and sure enough, he met the rich man while searching for him. The rich man refused to believe Henry's story and instead accused him of theft, saying, "You are a thief, give my money and get out of my sight!"
Henry handed over the money to the rich man, who snatched it from him and stormed off without a word of gratitude. Henry, feeling a mix of relief and disappointment, continued his journey to the farm.
Few months later Henry was accused of stealing potatoes from a farm closer to his farm. Henry was shocked and hurt by the accusation, knowing he hadn't stolen any potatoes. The farm owner, Mr. Johnson, was a friend of the rich man who had previously accused Henry of theft. Henry wondered if the rich man's influence was behind the new accusation.
As the people in the community looked into the case, evidence began to surface that proved Henry's innocence. Witnesses came forward stating that they saw someone else near the farm on the night of the alleged theft, and it wasn't Henry. The community rallied around Henry, and soon the truth began to unravel.
Many years later Austin began saying in his mind, "Maybe these people are not my rightful parents... I should find my suitable parents."
Due to their living conditions, he left them and began searching for his parents, now that there was no one like parents to guide him.
As he went from town to town, he met a very rich man who was in need of a child; the rich man took him as his own biological son and began doing everything for him.
Many years later the boy came up with another thought: he said to himself, "I will test this man to see his love for me as his child."
One day, he told the police station and told them about his idea; the police agreed with the idea. The commander added, "I will put him in jail and see your father's reaction."
After putting him in jail, the commander called his father, saying, "You have allegedly been accused of a serious crime involving a child; we need you at the police station right now to discuss the matter further."
The commander continued, "Your son has been taken into custody..."
When the man heard that, he said, "He is not my son; I don't know him from nowhere. Do whatever you want with him."
Days later, Henry and Mary Zeegbos heard that their son was put in jail in another town. They rushed there, and when they got there, the police gave them the option, saying, "Either we put the boy in prison, or two of you go to prison." They agreed and said, "That will be better; take us, we'll go to prison instead of our only child."
After that, the boy cried and kneeled down to his parents, saying, "Mom and Dad, I never thought that there is no one like you people. I should have shared it with you."
From that day, he learned the lesson that says there is no one like parents.
