“Beep…beep…beep….”
Hannah woke up to the sound of the alarm on the Christmas morning. She smelled hot chocolate and apple pile. She rushed to get up from her bed and walked to the dining room, where she saw her best friend, Emma.
Hannah: “Merry Christmas Emma,”
Emma: “Merry Christmas sleepyhead. Breakfast is ready. Here’s your hot chocolate and apple pile,”
They enjoyed their breakfast, looking through the window. The world perfectly covered in the snow perfectly and rooftops capped with snow, icicles glinting like glass ornaments. The winter breeze came through the window and brushed against their face.
Emma: “Let’s go shopping for our Christmas dinner and the party. Hurry up we’ve got a long shopping list”
Hannah: “Slow down bestie you look more excited than last year, Christmas isn’t going anywhere.”
After their breakfast they walked to the mall on the next block. On the way, they ran and chased each other and throwing with snowballs, even forgetting they are outsiders. At school, no one wanted to be friends with them and they almost invisible to the world, they are on their own. But they didn’t care they had each other.
In the evening, they came back home. Emma is preparing dinner and Hannah is decorating their room. The stocking hang on the fireplace, the tree cover with ornaments and lights. The present were sitting beside the Christmas tree. After all the work was done, night is near. They having their dinner together, talking laughing and enjoying their delightful moment.
The snow falling slowly from the sky outside. The whole world is light with Christmas light and the Christmas songs is slowly spreading in their home. The time for present has come.
Hannah: “Emma are you read for our presents. Let’s go to the Christmas tree.”
They walk to the tree and
Emma: “Don’t you think you forget something”
Hannah looks at the tree and said “Oh my god I forget the star the Christmas tree can’t perfect with it, ah I’m so clumsy.”
Emma: “Don’t worry I got you. Look at the wooden box on the table”
Hannah picks up and looked at the box. It was written Emma and Hannah forever. She smiled and opened. Inside was an angel topper, shaped like a fairy with pretty wings holding a star. She slowly touches the star and it cut her finger. A drop of blood fell onto the fairy.
Emma: “Oh, Hannah, are you okay? Let me see”
Emma put the box on the table and take care of Hannah’s finger. They didn’t see the permeate into the angel topper. After a while Emma put it on top of the tree.
They open their presents. Hannah gave a sweater and it was really pretty she made it by herself for her best friend. Emma gave a scarf for Hannah. After that they watching their Christmas movie together and they heard something from the tree, the jingling song. The window were closed.
Hannah looks at where the song came from “Emma, Emma, look the tree it shaking”
They both look each other and Emma said
“It must be the wind right” her voice is shaking.
Hannah: “I wish Em. we already closed them”
While they talking the tree is moving closer to them and the branches are starching and moving like a vine. They freak out and try to run away and the branch got Hannah feet and pull her to the tree. But Emma didn’t give up her best friend and she grab Hannah hands. Her face looks really scare and worried about her best friend.
Emma: “I’ve got you Han”. She was crying
She pulls Hannah back and hold Hannan hands tide.
Hannah: “Emma, don’t let that tree get me. I’m scare”
Suddenly, Emma’s worrying face changed to smile and said
“Do you really think is the tree, is the fairy, silly.”
Hannah: “What are you talking about, is not time for joke, please help”
Emma: “Hannah, Hannah, you are so innocent. Don’t you recognize? I’m sick of being an outsider. I want to be popular like the other kids at school. I have to sacrifice something to get what I want right. Everybody does. So, I chose you”
The branch around Hannah’s foot is getting tidder and pulling stronger.
Hannah cry and said “Aren’t best friends? You even wrote it on the box.”
Emma “Yes, we are I love you, but don’t you want to see me happy”
“Bye-Bye, bestie. You gave me best Christmas present ever”
She let go of Hannah’s hands and the branches pull Hannah into the tree. The angel topper turns into a little demon, laughing and staring at Hannah. Her body is cover with branches. She cries, unable to make a song or move. The pain for her body couldn’t compare the pain of her broken heart. Emma stare at her until the tree swallowed the whole.
The night was silent, as it has always been. Is look like neve happen anything. Hannah left the world quietly, and no one never remember she was existed.
