Born 1959, F, from Buenos Aires, Argentina
The Return
It was time. He hadn't had much time to rest, but he knew he had to go. He wished the waiting had been longer, but it was not possible.
He looked at the others; they were sitting calmly, they had not been called yet. He looked at them for the last time; they had been good mates; they had shared with him their memories and hopes, and he had shared his.
Still, all was soon to end; it was inevitable.
One of them looked at him,
"You are going?"
"Yes, I have to go."
"Perhaps we'll meet again."
"Maybe, I hope so."
"You don't want to go?"
"Not really. It's so peaceful here."
"Yes, but one day we'll go as well."
"Why?"
"No one stays here forever. Have you chosen already?"
"Yes, only that I have not expected this to be so soon."
"You are needed, good luck! We remain on call."
"Well, it has been nice meeting you all, goodbye!"
Everything became blurred; he felt like he was floating; it was dark. It was strangely familiar, and he relaxed for a while. And then the movements began, strong movements, and the realisation he had gone through this before, he would survive.
And suddenly everything stopped, he panicked, something was wrong, he was trapped, he was trapped in a dark tunnel. It was only when he heard voices outside and a strong wailing that he decided to go through it. The strong movements began again he was being pushed out of the tunnel; it was scary and also blissful.
Somebody held him in his arms, and he wailed, wailed in relief, in despair and finally in acceptance.
He heard someone saying, "Congratulations, you have a beautiful boy!"
When the woman helped him in her arms, all his memories disappeared. And he slept, he slept peacefully in the arms of his mother.
